Yeah really.

Ok I installed an overclock kernel and had it working well at 2.1GHz till it went downhill. Oh well time to wipe and try Slim Bean.

So... these are showing up rather more often on the subways and streets of NYC, and literally every guy has a black one and literally every girl has a white one.

WTH? Did I miss the phone color memo?

You might have, it was sent out to everyone awhile ago.

I got the black one and I put the white $20 verizon case on it.
Wonder if that means my phone is transgendered?

The commercials are that way. I am a dude with a white one.

I've noticed that even at 1.9GHz, the phone can only run full tilt for about 2 minutes before thermal throttling =/

BTW, could you run A1 SD Bench on your Samsung microSD and see what it gets (change it to the long bench in the settings first)?

makes me wonder if we really need such a powerful CPU then if all it does is throttle?

you'd think that tasks that don't require 4x1.9ghz can be achieved with lower clock speeds?

Used an S4 in the store today. Two thoughts:

Wow, that's snappy.
Wow, the Verizon software in store is....LOOK, I DON'T WANT TO WATCH A VIDEO ABOUT THE S4, LET ME USE IT. The Verizon demo UI is terrible. It popped up while I was using the phone.

Anyway - if you suddenly need full power, you have it. But rarely will you be holding the CPU at full power for a long time...I mean, go look at an SB or IB Intel CPU - it doesn't stay at full turbo unless you're running P95.

Yeah I noticed that also. Mine is white in an orange slim tpu case. I went with the creamsicle look. Im a dude btw. The orange matches the orange headband on my SOL track HD headphones.

I got mine from the store yesterday. I was upgrading from my Razr and asked if I could use my existing SIM card. The reps told me that I needed a new SIM card because it has "new features". Anyone know what these could be, out of curiosity? It's not like I had to pay for the SIM card, but just wanted to know.

I like the Neo Hybrid but with the too small headphone jack and the warning on the web site that only the Samsung charger may work, I went with the Otterbox Commuter.

Yea I saw the neo and it seems like it's what I'm looking for, but I didn't hear about those problems. I originally got the otter box but it is a little too bulky. I generally don't like cases but this phone is really thin and light.

My hope is that one can maybe underclock a little and overclock to get back to a similar power envelope of stock. You would need some golden silicon, but I have been praying to the tech gods who have never granted me such a thing that my phone contains a magic wafer. All I want is to be able to brag that I have a 2GHz Quad Core phone. 100mhz and I am happy.

The overclock kernel is still a little rough for such things at this time.

Well, I kinda screwed myself for that. I was so excited in the heat of the moment that I flashed a CM-based ROm without flashing the fuse package and I toasted my exFAT SD card. Attempts to revive it were in vain (not that I lost much, just my old Nandroid with the bleh stock ROM), so I reformatted and I am trying to get it to work with the flashable package you showed me. That isn't working so well, so I am about to go in another direction for the SD card (the more I think there is little downside for me using non-journaling ext4).

BUT I am running CM right now and its glorious. And I am about to flash what was by far my favorite i777 ROM- Task650's AOKP- to get back the extras I miss.

There is already talk of putting together a CWM that does the loki patch on a kernel automatically so that us AT&T/Verizon folks can use T-Mobile ROMs. I have read that if you flash a T-Mobile ROM then flash a Lokied kernel it will boot and work, so this weekend development will ramp up quickly.

It's mostly just just replacing boot.img with boot.lok so I see this as completely feasible.

I hope they figure it out because I'd hate for the forums to be filled with LOKI'd and non-LOKI'd versions of everything. I'd probably go nuts and just flash the T-Mo recovery and only use their ROMs haha.

If you get ext4 working could you check if MTP still works properly? I'm currently on a TW ROM right now though haha. I wonder if they'll be able to skin it to look like AOSP in the future (I've had Sense ROMs like that).

Me too. I was all excited about how similar the S4s were (after my i777 one-off), but this bootloader thing has added a new wrinkle.

You bet. That will be what decides it for me.

They did for the S2 and S3.

FWIW, all three of my pairs of earbuds fit no problem, and the same with the 10+ chargers I've tried.

I like the look of my black one, but I considered the white one. I don't think it's feminine or anything.
