I am a huge Pink Floyd fan, and seeing Waters again with the rest of the group inspired this post.

Very nice. I almost do not want to vote at all because I would not be able to do justice to the group due to my lack of encompassing knowledge.

Waters gets most of the credit for that band but Gilmour is 1000x the musician and vocalist that Waters was.

Most people remember Waters because of The Wall.

And my vote for favorite album goes to Animals by far, Dogs being my favorite song by them; their most accomplished in my mind.

I always prefered Waters vocals to Gilmours (until now because Waters voice is going AWOL).

Waters wrote almost all songs by himself with Gilmour cowriting some very good ones as well (Run Like Hell, Comfortably Numb, and several others).

I agree that Gilmour is one of the best guitar players (and musicians) ever, and without him Pink Floyd would have never been a great band.

Yes. Waters was the guy who looks like an old Richard Geer(sp?) now.

Compare DSOTM to The Wall... the vocals are so much better on DSOTM.. The Wall had a fiery passion in the vocals which is what a lot of people prefer I guess, but it took them out of the prog rock realm for me.. it's a good concept album but it forever changed them.

Wow! I agree 100%. Voted for same album, and the same song - before I saw your post! :D

The difference between Gilmour and Waters was once put like this: Waters would gladly take the same melody and put 4 different lyrics on it, and Gilmour would take the same lyric and use it for 4 different melodies. Waters' biggest contribution is the unforgetabble lyrics--he is not the melodic writer that Gilmour is, nor he is as good on bass as Gilmour is on guitar. That said, would I rather see Floyd without Gilmour or without Waters? I'd take them without Waters--Gilmour's voice is just so much better.

I agree. However Water's live version of it on his "In the Flesh" album isn't too bad either.

Waters plays guitar on it? Sorry, I'm not familiar with much of Waters solo work.

I thought we were talking about vocals. Waters does play a little guitar, but not in same league as Gilmour.
