Anyway, if nobody else has seen this around recently I'll flag this deal dead.

Three of the five Fry's in the Bayarea (not counting the new Concord store) are not visible from a freeway nor are they near the freeway. Parking in Campbell is terrible as is the Palo Alto store. Sunnyvale, SJ and Fremont have nice, large parking lots.

The exit in Campbell pretty much takes you right into the Fry's parking lot, but, yes, you are correct that it isn't visible from the freeway...I stand corrected and my theory is completely blown out of the water.

The San Jose is the only one further away and it's about, what, 1/8 of a mile? I've actually never been to the Palo Alto one...so sue me.

the sunnyvale store is a few mins from the freeway.

Frys needs to expand to NY.
Hell yes!!

I don't think it will happen. Fry's is heavily concentrated in the west coast. I don't think the Frys brothers will want to expand to the east coast because there would be just more people to manage. Also, the weather conditions on the west coast is much better than the east.

Na...they'll get there, but they don't open a store until they know they'll turn a huge profit with it. They are just now opening one in the East Bay area in California.

Rule number one...the Fry's must be near the freeway. Every Fry's I know of is right off the freeway and is highly visible from the freeway. This makes finding one, or noticing one, very easy.

Rule number two...they also need room for ample parking since even during holidays you can still find a far off space at Fry's.

Rule number three...the Fry's must be located in a heavily populated/travelled area. Now you need a huge lot right off the freeway in a heavily populated area. Finding a lot like that isn't easy or cheap.

Rule number four...the Fry's must be in a fairly affluent area, but not so affluent that they wouldn't stoop to Fry's. The upper middle class is their target. Everywhere they're open in California is such an area. They aren't in Beverly Hills or Blackhawk, neither are they in Fresno or Stockton.

The bottom line is that you need to intimatly know the area to figure out where a Fry's would fit. Every Fry's I know of is always packed. There's always 12 or more cashiers helping a steady stream of customers in a line 30 long. The key to that kind of success is finding the perfect location and finding the perfect location takes time and research.
The Fry's opening in a couple weeks in Concord is NOT visible from any freeway. It takes 5 minutes once you exit the offramp of 680North before you finally even get in the area of Fry's. The parking there sucks too. BestBuy has a bigger parking lot then the new Fry's in Concord.

I think that a better location for the Concord Frys in Bay Area would be the now closed "Wards" location off the Monument Blvd Exit off I-680. That place is huge, big parking lot, right next to freeway. I also hate the new Frys at Concord....the entrance gate is some reason too small, and i really hate that partition b/t the hardware/software dept and always very hard to find parking. This new store seems tooo cramped up with tons of stuff.

My fav Frys in the Bay Area is the Fremont Frys with the Sacramento Frys (never a hassle to find parking there) next in line.
