Amazing, I got this set for $34AR last month. I am picking up another set for 8GB Ram setup.

All of my crucial rebates arrived at reasonable time.

Hmmm, after shipping and sales tax, this is $30 AR for me. I could just pick it up in the store and save $6 though, making it $24. This is so, very tempting. But, I'm only running Windows XP so I'm not sure this would help me.

Also, won't ram prices just drop from here? I remember as DDR2 become more and more adopted, DDR prices fell dramatically, but once DDR became effectively obsolete, with motherboards not supporting it anymore, it became hard to come by so prices went up quite a bit.

This set I picked up is Elpida chips running at 880Mhz 5-6-6-18 @ 2V with my 4ghz e7200 cpu. My last set was samsung and can only run at 6-6-6-18. I'll keep this elpida set

Urgh! So hard to resist! Even though I've been spending money like a crazy person.

I'll wait for price drops on newegg.

Cramer of Mad Money had a segment on tech stocks a while ago and said there is a lot of inventory build that has to be worked off (he was saying tech stocks weren't a buy because estimates hadn't come down and there was a lot of inventory in the system).

Currency translations may also be favorable for imported tech items, so hopefully we'll get lots of good pricing for this holiday season.

Dang, now I'll have to examine the current rebate to see if it is a different offer than the previous one... this price is HOT!

There are several variations of memory chips, so YMMV. You might even get the CL5 version:
1. Micron D9hnp - DDR2 800 5-5-5-18 @ 1.8V, 4-4-4-15 @ 2.2v (i think this is the primary reason this module dies is because people using 2.2V)
2.Samsung = 6-5-5-18 @ 1.8V
3. Hynix = 5-5-5-18 @ 1.9+ V
4. Elpida = 5-5-5-18 @ 1.9+ V

Good Luck.

thanks for info, just ordered a pair, see what my luck brings me. I've been quite unlucky recently with VIDs of new chips. So my guess is I will probably get the Samsung version.

Update on my micron set D9hnp: 1059 Mhz at 6-6-6-18 @ 1.92V. Wont boot at CL5 using this speed. I have the samsung and elpida sets also. Micron has the highest OC so far with samsung being the worst.
The micron chips do get HOT though compared to the samsung ang elpida chips. Also I wont not risk running 2.2V even if to try CL5 because my ballistix tracer modules died after 2 weeks of running 2.2V at 1059Mhz.

I'm going to order again, but I'm a bit concerned about the wording in the rebate. Limit (1) one rebate per product per address without stating a "per offer." I've already bought two of these kits, so this would make a third. Still, it should be okay. I hope.

So, first time I bought this RAM (mid September) it was $40 AR FS. Second time (early October) was $30 AR FS. Now, $20 AR FS. What the heck?!?!? Next month, $10 AR FS?

Actually, I think I'll wait until tomorrow, and phone the rebate company first. Not that the word of whoever I get on the phone is law/policy, but it would ease my concerns.

Has anyone else received multiple rebate payments from Lexar/Crucial for the same product, but from different offer numbers?

I don't think I have ever seen anyone denied a rebate on the same product with different offer numbers. I bit and I don't think there is a problem in the world with this rebate vs the first rebate.

My concern is that Lexar Media doesn't have a very stellar reputation for rebates, plus the specific wording of the rebate. Most rebates have verbage that defines rebate periods/offers. For instance, my Patriot rebate states: "The maximum number of times
you can submit a rebate for a purchased product is one (1) per rebate period." My OCZ rebate states: "Only one rebate per qualifying product per household per promotion." (bolding is mine)

Come to think of it, in the fine print of the Crucial/Lexar rebate: "Excessive submissions constitute fraud." :Q I currently have four outstanding Crucial rebates, and will have two more for those Tiger Direct FAR deals. Would adding another rebate or two constitute "excessive?"

The "two" comes from another $15.99 AR FS 2GB Ballistix deal from Frys.com with a different offer # than before.

If your Ballistix tracer modules are the notoriously bad 2.2v Ballistix when Micron switched from double-sided to single-sided modules, then you're not alone. Those Ballistix have died for many people even when running at lower voltage.

Have you tried 2.0v with your D9HNP?

1059 sounds pretty good for such cheap RAM. What was the best overlock you got from the Elpida modules?

I have thought about it. I looked a few weeks ago at the $2.10 and $2.15 dealextreme models. Don't know if it's necessary but it certainly shouldn't hurt.
