I know their not the cheapest, But I'm in the UK, and want to take advantage of their 12 month intrest free credit 🙂

Many thanks in advance! 🙂

You should really look into building your own computer. Alienware is usually about 1500 more than building your own, with their really high end stuff thousands more. Alienware is a huge rip off. Build your own rig.

as I said, I know their not the cheapest, and I could get cheaper! But I'm in the UK, and want to take advantage of their 12 month intrest free credit, as cash flow is a problem right now!

then buy it.

As far as I'm concerned "friends don't let friends buy Alienware"

Edit: damn public schools

Look into the Dell Dimension 8400 first. The 8400 is the same motherboard as the Dell XPS Gaming system, but without the fancy case and with a slightly lower wattage PSU. When they have a good sale on it, it's a damn nice gaming system with the right video card.

The last thing I would do with a cash flow problem would be to buy a Alienware PC.

They are so overpriced, and I can't imagine what their interest rate would go to after a year (of course you would owe interest from the purchase date).

Isn't there a credit card offer that has no interest for six months that you could use instead? That way you could get the same setup for half the price.

Is it strictly for gaming? Do you have to have SLI?

If the answers are no, then check out the Dell XPS gen 4 or 5. The Gen 4 can be had for pretty cheap, just watch for the 25-34% discounts. The Gen 5 already had a 20% discount. No matter what most here say about Dells and Intel, it's still a good system and with the dual core EE chip it's also very good at everything else, while being decent at gaming.

I can play any game currently out at max resolution (1680x1050) at more than acceptable frame rates. I'm sure it's a good 30-40% slower than that FX55 system is in some games, but as long as it plays and is smooth it really doesn't matter much (at least to me).

Plus Dell offers financing!! Maybe not interest free for a year, but that also varies with Dell as much as the prices.

Just a thought.

Wow, I just went to Alienware's site and configured what you have:

$3429.00 after a $500.00 MIR! Holy sh!t!

That isn't with a monitor or even a DVD burner.

You would be financing $3929.00! Ouch

I think the specs are awesome. To be honest, though, you could buy a pretty good system and overclock it to get near the same performance for much much less.

then maybe you should fix the cash flow problem by not paying twice as much as you should for a computer. save money for 6 months, then build a computer with that money. the other 6 months worth of money is yours to keep. or don't spend money on computer stuff if money is really tight

build your own for half the price...jebus you could get a 3500+ venice core, a dfi sli mobo, and 2x 6800gts, then overclock it. it'll be much faster than the setup you have now (and you could even afford to watercool on a $4000 budget!)

like just about everyone else here said, it's overpriced, and you could easily build your own for way way less.

If that's what you really want, however, no one can stop you. Personally, I think the word "alienware" should along the lines with the "P" word... "pro....prop...proprietary"

As mentioned, you'd be much better off saving money for a couple months if you're worried about cash.

Definitely a nice rig but agreed you are better off in the long run making your own rig. I guess if you are strapped for cash the 12 month interest free credit helps...

hehe, well I have money, But I just bought a new car, so I'm broke now! But will have money again later on in the year once it's paid off!
