<< He didn't get raped THAT much ;) The only thing in that system that could use an upgrade in the future is his processor... >>

For 6500 he got raped. It's a nice system, but for 6500 I expected SCSI RAID, a Ti500 and a P4 2.0. I can build a nicer one than that for cheaper even at the massivly overpriced GamePC.com

I just built this at GamePC.com for comparison I know it's not exactly the same, but it's close. Also, it's got SCSI RAID with two x15s and a 100GB drive for stuff.

They didn't have the Klipsch, so I picked their most expensive speakers. Add another 200 for Klipsch. The printer I picked is a little more expensive than the photo smart.

On behalf of the people that spend FAR too much on their computers, I have this to say in his defense :)

#1 We dont know when he bought it, I'm assuming right when the 1.8 came out
#2 If he likes it he likes it :)

Are all those estimates of 4500 including all the software he has? I'm sure that thing has to have some other expensive software on that computer... remember that retailers don't build computers with pirated software

Hey people, this guy has had enough problems with alienware, I don't think telling him he got raped is necessary.

He was kind enough to post this customer service review...

Remember, not everyone can build their own, and not everyone has the time, nor the patience.

thanks for the heads up, piski.

I hate it when rich people blow their money like that. He could have sent like 4 grand to charity or something.

You're right. I apologize. It IS a nice machine, and you do get a warranty and service with it, so that's a plus :)

Woops! I forgot the smiley face after my first reply. I'd say I am a bit red in the face, but I'm black. :p

A friend of mine had a P3-850 Alienware computer. During lans, he had to have the side panels of his case open to keep his computer running cool. (P3s usually run very cool too).

I wouldn't brag about spending that much on a computer.

Next up on The DefRef Show: "People Who Brag About Their $78,000 Geo Metros"

Oh my gosh.. wow.. I wish I had that much cash. Dual 2000+ system :)

I do like Alienware's cases though. Look like modded Antecs...that's about all I like about prebuilds though. :p But seriously.. I'm not sure I've ever heard of a PC maker with good tech support...

<< FE1250+ >>

FE is NEC's lower-spec flat screen series, how come you didn't buy the FP series, the price difference is so small.

What is wrong with you people!? Show some class and/or
a little common decency!

My opinion of *some* of the people in this forum just
took a serious nose dive! However, I may allow you to
redeem yourselves...maybe.

<< bought an Alienware almost 3 years ago. Cost me about $3K. Your right about their customer support. It was horrible. I had problems right out of the box. Several phone calls and several hours later, all was well and I really enjoyed it after that.....but I'll never buy from someone else again. Homemade on the kitchen table is the only way to go. >>

Same here I have always regreted the money I spent on the Alienware machine. They claim to be the best tech support but I would rank them right down there with Packard Bell :|

spending $6.5K on a PC isn't even funny. If his time and energy worths anything to him then dropping that money for a kick ass machine is great. People please considered how much time would it take yourself to build a PC like that?

But wait a Minute, With $6.5K I could get all the RAID 5 SCSI loving plus a 18" LCD and more!!!!!!
