What is the status or your order? Give them a call if you are concerned.

Back in the day when I had an uncle want to buy me a computer (prebuilt only :( ) I got an alienware, yeah from the time i ordered it to the time it got to my house was like 5 months i swear. I ordered it when GF2 Ultra was in it's prime, by the time I got it the GF3 TI500 was released. Not to mention the same computer for the same price i paid was then coming with the TI500.

Hence my name...Alienwho? I hate alienware with a passion.

Oh also the day i set up the computer the motherboard fried, so i sent it back and had to wait an additional 3 weeks for a new motherboard in order to run the computer.

On a side note I got a call the other day from someone who bought an Alienware system just for Half Life. He said he spent $3500 on a system for a game that will run perfectly on my old Duron 800.

yeah, dell rules. decent prices for a builder, great service, great construction, great shipping, hell, my sister ordered a dell and it came the next week. Dell rules, but sometimes the price kills em. my dads laptop cost 3000+ from dell, but he basically set every option to the most expensive level.

I got a VERY nice dell laptop for very little money.

PIII 1ghz, 15" UXGA, 64 meg Mobile Radeon 7500, 256RAM (upgraded to 512 later for $55), 30gb hard drive, 8x dvd for $1150 after rebate and a free palm m105 :D

The alienware one looks very sweet, but also has a very high price...

Try this site Cyberpowerpc. We got 2 systems from that place because we couldnt put them together for a lower price, same components from newegg.com. These people must purchase components in mass quantities to get such discount. BTW, the computers they built are rock solid, top of the line components and we're still using them.

Isnt Alienware headquartered in S. Floriduh?? There is the answer to your question right there.

They may build nice systems (at high prices) but nothing happens quickly in Floriduh. Wil take at least 5 times as long as it should and Im being kind here.

EDIT: BTW, I had a system from Cyberpower about 3-4 years ago that I could never get running. No help from them and it was a bitch to return. Cost me over $100 just to be rid of it and I felt it was wall worth it!! Even pulled my back shipping it back to them!!! They sure do sound good on their website though.

Disclaimer: Maybe they are better "now"

ALienware laptops are fast, but at the expense of battery life. Their battery life is horrible, you probably wont be able to play a whole DVD movie before the battery craps out. The use a standard P4 processor, not the Mobile version. *I* would only get a Dell if I was shopping for a notebook. If something goes wrong with the Alienware unit, you get the pleasure of dealing with slow service, and a company that is in it's infancy as far as selling laptops. Dell's laptop repair/replacement service is second to noe, and service is the most important aspect in regards to laptops, you can't run to CompUSA and get a new motherboard for it.. Get my drift? :)

Cancel the order - Order a Dell.

Dell will take 15 days to ship your lappy too. They've been testing mine for 5 days now...I was hoping to get lucky and get it next week...but seeing as how it hasn't even been shipped at its UPS ground...I won't get it till the week after that when school will have started

My sister-in-law ordered a Dell laptop on August 8th, and she recieved it this Monday the 12th (ground shipping). You need to be extra careful with Dell before you place an order as some parts are often on a 3 week waiting list. Check their online forum for up-to-date waiting lists that they won't tell you anywhere else.

I will also vouch for Cyberpowerpc, as I just got my second PC from them a few weeks ago. Their prices are amazing.
