Alienware cases?

Alienware doesn't make those cases, they just put their sticker on them. Ive seen those cases at stores like FRY's. Check them out on outpost.com.

I think you're talking about their old cases... they do have new cases now to distinguish themselves from the other chenming cases that has popped out the last couple of years... they were one of the first ones to use those anyway. In any case, the layout of the case inside is still the same... it's still a chenming or uneec... but the design is now alienware. you can have chenming make you a custom case as well as long as you order a truckload of it.

I still can't understand who buys from alienware. Especially with their prices and the fact that they're competing with Dell, IBM, Gateway, HP, EMachine, etc.

If you buy Alienware you're paying $400 or so for a case and an alienware case badge logo. Ripoff. Better to get a nice Chieftec/Chenming with a cold cathode or possibly other case mod stuff and do it yourself. Then you have something to be proud of, heh.

You know, I don't know a single person who owns an Alienware. I've heard a couple people say "Damn, that Alienware is as fast as hell." I tell them in response... you idiots, thats the same hardware as mine just with their little badge on the front. They don't believe me and they're like whatever. (BTW, this is from some time back when the P4 1.7ghz was the most expensive thing ever.)

For some people, speed is all pshycological because if you put a Pentium 3 infront of them with Alienware written in permanent ink on the front of the case, they'll say its soooo fast before they turn it on. LOL

They have other colors too 🙂 You could get the pasty frosted white one and go full Roswell-style 😉

Anyways, gotta give 'em credit for being creative and branding their cases to match their company image. I think they look better than the oversized Go-Bots/Power Rangers that Thermaltake is selling, but that's just my opinion. 🙂

Alienware is the first specialty system builder to offer an exclusive PC case of its own design.

Riiiiiight ...

Errr..whatever. God forbid someone deviates from a beige mid-tower and personalizes their case by choosing something that is aesthetically pleasing.

Edit: I have a Lian Li PC-65 and I wish I had bought it much sooner. Would some people consider it to be riced-out? Probably. But I didn't choose it simply b/c it was "cool" looking. The reality is that there are certain features that you simply can't find in a standard tower. It has 4 intake fans and 2 outtake fans, all of which are controlled by a front switch or a 4-port Rheobus, and all came w/out any modification on my part. The case can be stripped down to a skeleton w/out the need for a screwdriver b/c of LL's thorough use of thumbscrews. There are removeable HDD cages and a motherboard tray that make life much easier for those who constantly tweak their PC. It also has a side window, so I don't need to guess what fans are making what noises or if a jumper is set correctly. You simply can't find those features in a "Non-Riced" case.

Yes, I could've bought something a lot simpler that served the utilitarian purpose of holding my PC together, but I guess its the same reason I decided to buy a foreign convertible sports car instead of a 4-door family sedan.

I'd buy the case from Alienware, I don't care if it makes people think I own an Alienware machine. I like the design. If Alienware would only sell the case, I'd buy it. No doubt.

I think I was a bit wrong in my assessment of an Alienware being ricey, now that I think of it.. IMO it's just gaudy 🙂

If ya wanna talk about PC rice, then look at some case mod sites where people send in pics of their P3 800 systems with 8 case fans and neons and windows and huge blinding LED's. I don't care if your PC can act as a VTOL aircraft or if someone might mistake it for an ambulance when you turn it on.. if it's slow it's still slow 😛

Where is the window? I can't believe they didnt put a window and CC in there.

Definetly if I were to ever buy a pre-made computer, I would definetly go with Voodoo PC. They come closest to the true power users machines.
