Alienware Aurora DDR SE for $999 (Possible $100 Rebate, also)

Well, I got off the phone with Julio ( ext 2034 ) and ordered this system. I dont feel competent enough in building my own system, so I jumped on this deal. December at AlienWare offered free shipping. They are estimating a 5 week lead time on this system.

I just returned a Dell 8200 that I paid 1970 for, so I pocketed 1000 bucks and took the AMD plunge. I'm not sure of the performance difference between this AMD XP 1600+ and the Intel P4 2GHz... anyone care to elaborate?

I am in a distributed computing club at DSLReports, and everyone over there is a Die Hard AMD fan... So, I know my decision will make them happy.

I will be adding additional DDR SDRam to this machine, and playing MechWarrior 4 allot better now!

the 1600+ is way faster than a p4 at 2ghz! okay not faster but with a slight overclock! say fsb to 140x10.5=@1.5ghz u will get close to the same if not better scores for FPU and ALU scores.

The final price is $999.00. No charge for the shipping and no tax... according to several in this thread, you could build one a little cheaper, but I aint going there... not to save a hundred bucks..

Bah whoever said FIC = POS ur wrong, I own an AD11 and I love the board and for the price when I got it, it was recommended by alot of sites, but in all honesty I used to think like you did UNTIL i owned a FIC board, now I love em =)
