1. if an Alien attack (if you believe in aliens) would finally unite Humans as a whole

or

2. send frantic despair amongst the world and aide the aliens to achieve our very own destruction.

This question was answered a decade ago.

We are fighting for our right to live. To exist. And should we win the day, the Fourth of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day the world declared in one voice: "We will not go quietly into the night!" We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to live on! We're going to survive! Today we celebrate our Independence Day!

Depends on the type of attack. What if it was an economic attack and they just decided to open up a chain of alien fast food restaurants?

IMO the only thing that could possibly unite humankind is a serious alien invasion.

Yes, we would unite as a species to fight.

Now, as for the movie, I don't get it. Why would the aliens use humans as a fuel source when there's an abundance of easier to catch animals that would supply more fuel even more efficiently.

Same reason the matrix didn't use cows or baboons! Duh!

I'm sure there's a topical political joke there regarding the southern US border.

You'd think any alien species with the technological advances needed for space flight and designs on capturing Earth should surely success in doing so.

Life would not follow 'art' as in "Independence Day" but if we were survive with them as our masters it would be called "Subjugation Day."

OK in War of the Worlds, common bacteria and viruses killed the aliens. However, wouldn't the aliens have brought some bacteria and viruses along with them as well that humans would not be immune to?

No, they enjoyed the manual slaughter of the humans.

You're assuming both physiologies are compatible.

Apparently compatible enough to allow Earthly bacteria to kill them.

Maybe they discovered ways long ago to eradicate all bacteria from their bodies and environment. Genetic manipulation may have allowed for the production of the proper digestive substances, or maybe there's some subdermal implant which releases specific chemicals (and thus energy) directly into their bloodstreams.

Or, maybe the producers didn't want to make a totally dismal sequel: "Death of the World," in which all life on Earth begins to die out as a myriad of alien microbes begin to take over.

Heheh ;)

I pretty much agree with ya though on them taking over Earth without much problem considering the technology required to get here. But I'd hope we'd at least go down fighting together. ;)

If there is a civilization that has the capable not only to travel thousands of light years to our planet AND on top of that send a military invasion force at the same time, my guess is that right now, with our current technology, we would have no way to stop them.

Baloney I say! All we need is an Apple laptop and a virus and we can destroy any alien force!

An alien invasion? Lets be serious, it would defiantly be number 2.

Now a zombie uprising would clearly cause option 1.
