Alien vs. Predator 2 - what an awesome game.

I was thinking of getting it but the demo ran a little choppy on my machine 🙁

I think I'll have to consider getting a GeForce because with AvP2 and RTCW coming out soon I'm going to feel left behind.

I just got AvP2 and although it's pretty nice, the game is quite slow even when I'm using a Celery 1.1Ghz with GF2MX. Hope Wolf won't be like that 😀

Dude, Wolf is a b!tch of a game! As I've said before, I use ~450MB of memory when playing that game and I just got a Radeon 8500 to play that game! RTCW is ROUGH on a system! I'll check out AvP2 and see how it compares.

I run AvP2, RTCW demo, Ghost Recon demo, and every other game I own at 1600x1200 and they all run flawlessly with the exception of GR which can sometimes get a little choppy at points.

danny's~! review:

I have played AvP 1, beat the game in all three modes, and alien & predetor were the best modes to play in that game. Alien, because it was fun surprising the humans and destroying and eating the living crap out of them. Predetor, because you were a "hunter" and you feel it when you play. being stealth and swift was key. However, being a Marine in AvP 1 scared the crap out of, so that made it a fun mode to play in as well. All in all, that game, in any mode, was extremely fun and exciting.

Now, I've played AvP2 for a while and compared to AvP 1, this one really sucks.
reasons: First off, the game's graphics totally changed compared to AvP 1. AvP2 is more cartoon like and the graphics aren't as "real" looking anymore compared to the first. The first presented a lot of realism and made you feel as though you are ACTUALLY there, part 2, however, is more like.... unm, i dunno, like Serious Sam, where you just run into things kill and move on.

Also, the LOADING for AvP2 is ridiculous compared to the first. There is a quick save, but when you quit and return, you don't return to your quick save but rather your regular "go-into-your-menu-type-save" AvP1 loaded very fast and it allowed you to return to your last quick save.

AvP2's interface and menu sucks and the music doesn't capture me anymore. It lacks those scary heart-pumping sounds that AvP1 had.

Although AvP2 is an alright FPS game, compared to 1 it just doesnt do it. I did like the first Alien level were you had to start from scratch, (birth) first as a face-hugger, then into that snake like, then you evolved into an Alien and then it was massive killing.

My recommendations: don't play this game if you haven't played AvP1. This game doesn't deserve to be apart of AvP, it just simply belongs in your regular FPS game.

avp 1 is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better.

I did play the whole game (which in my opinion was pretty short). I thought it was good, but I didn't like it quite as much as some of you here did. I didn't really feel that immersed in the game. Maybe I should have worn headphones when I played it. In my opinion, the graphics were very much like the ones in No One Lives Forever which were appropriate for NOLF's half-serious tone, but werent scary enough for Alien vs Predator. I do think it's a good game though, and even though I play lots of games, this is my favorite game i've played in the last 6 months or so.

I'm glad this thread wasn't around before I bought AvP2, because responses like gogeeta13, bdog231, and DannyLove would have made me skip AvP2, and I would have missed a great game. I for one, am enjoying every minute of the game.

I wish this thread was around before I wasted $50 of my money on this mediocre game.
There was another thread I was reading a week or two ago, where everyone said they loved it- that convinced me to buy the game.
It runs like crap on the lowest detail settings(Duron 750, Radeon 32DDR).
The 'stories' of the three characters all intertwine, but you don't even get the point of the weak story until you are done with the whole game. The story is supposed to keep you interested in the game, but in this game the story just sucks.
I actually thought the graphics were pretty good though.

Game runs fine on max setings 1024*768 on my athlon 900 and radeon 64meg DDR in windows xp.... It should work decently at least on your system...

<< I use ~450MB of memory when playing that game and I just got a Radeon 8500 >>

Man you must be high!! are ya sure it wasn't a 450 ping?? that just doesn' t make any sense at all, Heck the game rocked on my P3 500 with 128 MB of memory! 😕

<< I took it back to EB saturday, and got my $44.99 back...

the lilitech engine=@ss
>>

The engine does suck, but the game is cool. If I would have ditched No One Lives Forever just because of the crappy Lithtech engine, I would have missed one of my favorite games. I'm glad I didn't.
