pick any group and it will eventually build itself back up. with health, you can at least knock out a lot of those poor genes and many diseases.

i agree. the intelligent community is what keeps helping the unhealthy stay alive. there is no natural selection anymore, that spurs innovation and forward movement.

i voted unhealthy, even tho id likely be offed in the experiment.

all those people voting for the least intelligent havent thought this through much. once you have a world full of intelligent people, that half point just shifts. you could be the new dumbasses. also, unskilled labor is a reality, how many pencil pushers and "thinkers" will be willing to get down and dirty doing the jobs the "less intelligent" people tend to do for you? good luck getting someone to mow your yard for what a programmer thinks hes worth paying, and hoping his arms dont give out after 30 minutes of pushing a mower in the sun.

I would imagine that, globally, the poorest probably work the hardest.

Which is why I tried to add some bit of clarification to me answer. We need to get rid of the people who are not "self sufficient". If you need government assistance, then you are holding back the species.

Ultimately our future lies in getting off this fucking rock. As long as we spend tax dollars to support the sick, the weak, the unemployed and the lazy we are signing our own death warrant.

Kill the poor!

The sun beams down on a brand new day
No more welfare tax to pay
Unsightly slums gone up in flashing light
Jobless millions whisked away
At last we have more room to play
All systems go to kill the poor tonight

It's ironic that the people who choose "unintelligent" are making an unintelligent choice.

My choice isn't on there: laziest

Smart people that do nothing are still worthless, so going by intelligence doesn't help.

Not really. If I'm omniscient, I can easily point out the oldest half of the population and there can be no debate about it. Sure, the youngest person in the oldest half may only be 1 ms older than the oldest person in the youngest half, but it's clear cut. Now, as I've already admitted, things like intelligence and attractive are somewhat more subjective/problematic. But trying to define "morality" for that giant middle gray area seems nearly impossible.

Still, it's only a contrived thought experiment so delving too deeply into the parameters isn't likely to be useful. :)

My point was that no matter what you pick, people that can contribute to society will be eliminated. Age, wealth, intelligence, health and attractiveness are all poor choices to go by if you could only pick one criteria, so I think morality would be the best choice.

Get rid of the wealthiest.

For better or worse - they are responsible for the human condition, and the results are not good. They had their shot; let someone else have at it, maybe with better results.

I know a lot of innocent people are included in that group. Too bad - there are mostly innocents in every group.

I'd imagine that the wealthiest 50% of the population includes about 85% of the western population if not more.

I'm an alien species that wants to take over the Earth, and I have to eliminate one of these segments of the human population. Why shouldn't I eliminate the smartest? They would probably be the segment that would find a way to eliminate me from the planet.

I'm sure I would be gone.

Good. I haven't done much for the suffering billions on this planet.

I see the thought experiment as the aliens giving us a choice as to what would help us the most. I voted least healthy btw.

The problem with picking intelligence is that I know some really smart people that lack wisdom and quite frankly they aren't the greatest people on the planet. There's also the whole artistic side of people that I wouldn't want to lose. Some of the dumbest people I know are the most artistic and I think they have a great value to human society.

Feels too much like Eugenics though for me to vote with any kind of confidence.

Only if you could use your brain just 1 move ahead...

The entire blue collar, retail, and service industry collapses. Suddenly we are fucked without cheap labor that performed 80% of shit you see when you walk a block.

Wrong answer...it would wipe out pretty much every third world country, the US would hardly be touched

Remember this is the WORLD, not just the USA...even our poverty level people are above most fo the world's population
