On Steam now for pre-purchase. Demo is OK. Feels a lot like some of the other 3rd person hack'n'slashers of the sci-fi variety. Controls are wonky, but graphics are pretty. And I know for many of you thats more important anyway.

Demo is actually a lot of fun. Equipment system is very basic. You only pick up one of each type of gun, and from then on upgrade it. Upgrades are incredibly plain. Fire rate. Reload rate. Damage per round. Accessories are very simple too. But overall its good shooting action. And looks like it may have a decent story as well.
Demo is 867 megs, and it looks like you just pay the activation fee to unlock the full game. No extra downloading.
For anyone who cares, it uses Unreal Engine 3.

I DL'd the demo too, just haven't tried it yet. It looks like fun though, I'll be trying it tomorrow probably, trying to finish up FF13 right now.

Wow... I remember Alien Breed games by Team 17... They were legendary.

I'll have to take a peek at these.

O.M.G...

I didn't actually realise that this was made by Team 17. I might have to buy it regardless for old times sake... They produced some of the best games ever.

If it's anything like the recent Alien Breed on XBLA, then it sucks. Boring, very repetitive and not fun at all.

The old AB games, back in the Amiga days, were awesome. They had something that was fun. This game is missing that something.

Again, hopefully they added something, compared to the XBLA version, that made it a better game.

Played the demo and I am probably likely to purchase it.

It looks like a nice 3D iso shooter at a bargain price (perhaps the Torchlight of it's genre. Cheap, simple and effective at giving you a nice addictive burst of fun).

For those who haven't heard of Alien Breed (originals for the Amiga by Team 17) then this is probably best likened to a mix of Space Siege (Sci-Fi 3d iso shooter) with the survival horror thrill of Aliens vs. Predator.

Awesome!

Now they need to update/release AB3d and AB3d2 using a modern gaming engine.. :)

Played part of the demo, moderately amusing. If it goes on sale for like $5 I'll pick it up, but I expect I'll get bored less than half way through.

it looks pretty cool but the movement of the camera makes me want to puke. why does it spin around like that? Shadowgrounds certainly doesnt do that.

The camera is controlled by the player. Move your mouse close enough to the edge of the screen and it starts to rotate.

I have put my money down and now rather itching to get stuck into the game. Just hoping it's as tough as old boots to keep me playing.

It was ok. I'd grab it on a sale for like $5. I didn't care much for the controls even after tweaking them a bit. It looked pretty cool in 3D though mostly.

Controls are very sluggish for me.

For me as well. I had to turn down resolution pretty far to get it to respond normally, even though I'm pretty sure I've run more graphically intense games at higher resolutions.

Never had a problem with the controls once I got the hang of it, no sluggishness (1920x1080)

The controls aren't ideal but it handles a lot like a 3D version of Alien Shooter: Vengeance which I loved too. Just takes a little getting used to.

it was pretty cool, it works with MS Controller, quite well actually, felt better than mouse/KB

So the game is released, who is playing?

To this moment I am a little frustrated at the back and forth nature of the game. I feel like I am running around too much for a game of this genre/type.

Plus I am stuck already. I have hit a point where I do not know how to proceed.

I really enjoyed both Shadowground games. No plot and terrible voice acting, but mindless and fun shooting.

Still on the fence with this one, though. For someone who enjoys the genre, is this a definite buy?
