I can not get this right.

(-6x^3 - 6x^2+18x+10) / (2x+4)

I keep getting -3x^2-9x-9+(26/2x+4)

any ideas where I'm going wrong

At Heathrow Airport today, an individual, later discovered to be a public
school teacher, was arrested trying to board a flight while in possession
of a compass, a protractor, and a graphical calculator. Authorities
believe he is a member of the notorious Al-Gebra movement. He is being
charged with carrying weapons of math instruction.

You need to subtract (-12x^2) from -6x^2 at the second step, I think you may be getting -18x^2 here rather than 6x^2 as it should be.

Once you get 6x^2 for this bit you find that the second term of the answer is 3x rather than -9x

Moonbeam, thanks for the kind reply.

Actually I'm not taking Algebra, havn't since 10 years ago, however trying to freshen up a bit on it.

AH, but you see, the fact that I didn't help you will cause quite a few people here to bust their asses to do the opposite. It's the Moonbeam effect and it's patented. There are all different kinds of help.

And besides, that problem is way too hard for me. You'd probably have to be a genius to solve it. 😀
