seems he has a positive attitude at least, or is putting on a tough front anyway, and wants to beat it (or at least make it 3 more years till his contract runs out)

i had no idea he is 78, i thought he was like 10 years younger than that

Isn’t that what killed Steve Jobs? If so, it’s not looking good for Alex.
He's dead as shit. Before the year's over is my guess. My father was 76 when he died from pancreatic cancer. He lasted about a year with chemo and other nonsense. Had an aunt that got it a long time ago. I think she was around 70. She lasted about a year doing nothing at all. Neither's last months/weeks were pleasant.

I can only hope that cancer becomes the next aids and finds some type of cure in the next 20 years

Because my liver is going to get turned into shit.

Brave face for sure, best of luck to him. Patrick Swayze was 57 when even he lost his battle - it's certainly not an easy one.

I feel sorry for Alex but he had a pretty awesome life. He got to do what he wanted, and made a lot of money doing it. He got to travel the world, meet amazing people, and got to experience things that most of use will never do. Good Luck Alex.

Gosh that's a shame. Wish Alex the best, and appreciate optimism, but I think it's highly unlikely he'll be finishing his contract.

I don't know much about his personal life, and can understand dedication to one's career, but at this point I think I would rather concentrate on spending time with friends and family rather than working as long as i can.

Best of luck to Alex.

Woah that's sad news. You would think someone such as him would have caught it earlier.

Pancreatic cancer is no joke. My understanding is there are usually no symptoms until it's quite advanced. That's what took out Patrick Swayze when he was still pretty young.

Yea as said it rarely produces symptoms till its to late. Most will not make it past 1 year after getting the news.

Steve Jobs had one of the more rare and treatable versions. Yet he ignored doctors till it was to late. Then spend millions getting his name on ALL the organ donor list etc... POS he was even to the end.

RIP
He was an iconic TV persona.

I have had 2 dear friends who were diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. One died within 8 weeks of the diagnosis. The other had surgery and nothing else. No chemo, no radiation. It is now more than 5 yrs later and she is still cancer free. Sadly, she is the outlier and the one who died is more the norm.

Sad news! I was not super into that show but I know he was an icon there given he's been the host forever. Didn't realize he was from Sudbury, that's only 3 hours from here.

RIP, Mr Trebek.

Very surprised he lasted this long, and especially with covid raging this year, wonder if they were keeping him super bubbled in some sort of positive pressure oxygen room or something.

But at least he can boast, wherever he is, that he outlasted his sworn nemesis, Sean Connery.
