spent a few hours playing with the liquify tool today with my fav painting ^_^
instructions on how to view it here
http://www.neilcreek.com/blog/2008/02/28/h...-see-3d-photos/

I also bought a poster of the piece.
I once viewed it while shrooming, the painting came alive.

The head popped out, the flames were blazing, the galaxies were spinning, and the eyes were winking at me.

I've mastered the art of seeing these images to the point where I don't even need to keep my eyes open to see them. I'm that good.

That's pretty cool. Never seen anything like that before. If you move your head side to side, you can see a slight parallax movement.

Looks cool, but it started to give me a headache after a few seconds of having my eyes crossed.

did you follow the directions i linked?
you may have a stereo deficiency. about 5% of the population has it.

That would be me. My eye doctor has informed me that I have stereo deficiency, which basically translates into not being able to see 3d images. Even in 3d movie theaters, the 3d glasses only partially work for me (some things look 3d, most don't).

How does this affect you in real life? Does this affect your general depth perception?

I can do them if they are smaller than that. The one in the OP is a little too big. I can get it close but I just can't get the last little bit.

motion parallax depth cue FTW! :awe:

I want one of these.

Up to 46 angles for motion parallax!1!1!! :awe::awe:

Supposedly you can convert your regular monitor to one of those if you get the lenticular lens to stick on there.

Now I just needa find a not a total ripoff place to buy one of them mofos.

Yeah it's cross eye, meaning right eye views left image and vice versa.
How do you view it with parallel view?

I can always do the necessary See in 3D trick, but I can never hold it. As soon as I recognize I see it, poof my eyes begin to return to normal. I get about a split second of recognizing a faint, fairly blurry 3D image. I can never "relax and lock in" as the site in the OP states.

how frustrating. the pic in the op is impossible for me to do it with, but the pics from the link in the op are easy... extremely cool, but they make my eyes hurt after a minute

I cant get the OPs pics to come together. I have no problem with the smaller ones in the instruction page.. But cant for nothing get the big ones to merge.

EDIT:
Zooming out helped :)

IMO the OP pic is way too big. Try to do it further away from your monitor.

like you focus behind the monitor. so left eye sees left image. i had to open the image in photoshop and switch the images, mirroring it wont work, you have to swap the images.

i dont really know how to explain it. i can only do it that way and never the cross eye way. like unfocus your eyes and pretend to stare off into space. it only works for me when i am less than 2 feet from the screen or ese its hard to stare "behind" it.

you can check to see which method you're actually using by doing it, then covering or closing one eye. if left eye is looking at left image, thats parallel view.

this guy takes some awesome 3d pics with a setup he has going

The "unfocus" thing never works for me - only the cross eye way! If the pattern is hard to track, and this is somewhat hard, I put one index finger over one part of the pattern, the other over a matching part, and try to line the fingers up. Then look at the image. That's the only way I could ever see those "magic eye" things.

Nice job, BTW! (Or should I say FTW! :))
