There are news items at various sites of a pic at
http://www.awaremag.com/tweaking/duronpins_1.html that claim to show what the rumored AMD Duron/Tbird multiplier pins emasculation would look like. Believe there's even a post here at Anand's.

But the poor guy at awaremag.com "PhotoShop/edited out" the WRONG pins.

His references were linked photos at Anand's and Dr Tom's, but the pic at Anand's is of the FID/Multiplier "ID" pins, clearly labeled as such. No way would AMD ever cut off those pins which "identify" the multiplier to the system to make appropriate system settings/timings, so are absolutely vital to system operatiuon.

The pins which are "rumored" to be cut off are the undocumented BP_FID pins which connect to dipsw's on the mobo for over-riding AMD's default signals to the "actual FSB Multiplier on the cpu die"

The awaremag guy just grabbed the first pic with 4
pins labeled "Multiplier....", obviously doesn't know there are two functions with different sets of pins, FID/Multiplier "ID" and BP_FID/actual FSB Multiplier.

There are pics around of the BP_FID pins.

This "mis-information on top of a rumor" has already spread to a German site, posted from another thread at deja. God help us....or spare us from uninformed people zealously looking to boost site hits with any kind of info.
