That must be at their b&m store. Their website currently shows the 9300, OEM version, at $269.99 plus shipping. Unfortunately, I am 50 miles away from the nearest MC store. They also have online the Q9450, OEM version, at $349.99 plus shipping (and tax of course).

P.

not going with the lower end yorkies.

Im not too happy about that crappy multi. I also dont apreciate the fact the highest multi will be a craptastic low ball multi on a value of 500-600 dollars.

I also find it funny that you can probably pick up a QX9650 for around 700-850 which will almost gaurentee an overclock higher then any Q9450 or Q9550. :T

There is an inventory locator that's pretty darn handy here. Don't forget to look at the X3350 chips if you have your heart set on a Q9450. I LOVE my X3360. It runs 8.5x400 @ such a low voltage, is it safe to assume that all xeon chips are "binned higher" than their desktop counter parts? I dunno, but I do know that the prices are identical so you might as well go for the xeon in my opinion.

I have one of each...the only difference between them that I've been able to find is that my x3350 has vid of 1.20 and the q9450 has a vid of 1.225.

I ordered a Q9450 from Microcenter last week, they said it was to ship on the 25th, I called them today and was told it has not shipped and they would call me back with shipping info and they have not as of this posting!!!

I used the InStockLocator link and am grabbing the first one that comes back and dumping my Microcenter if need be.

Oh no... not you too, lemme guess you were an opteron whore? :D

No i havent noticed any difference between the two. I thought the xeons clocked better, but they dont. Some did have lower vids, but im starting to guess vids only play 10-15% in overclocking. Usually that translates into something you wont be able to see unless your on phase. :T

Mark can probably double verify my comment.

I'll have a better idea of how the .0225 diff between my x3350 and q9450 does when I put the tuniq on the Q9450. only problem is that the ip35 pro has a lot more oc'ing options so it's going to be tough to get a 100% apples to apples comparison.

hey aigo, check out this thread on the abit forums...some guy is trying to tell me that a tuniq can't handle a quad...

Hmmm, funny........before lapping the tuniq and Ihs, ran @ 3.2 with vcore of 1.4875v. Never got over 60c. Dropped due to the 8gb mem (and vcore) mainly to 3.0, vcore @ 1.38v and tops out @ 54c. Lapped, and temps read max of 50c. So IMO, I know it does its job.....well.

well, after talking to him a little bit more I found out that he was running his q6600 at over 3.8 in a hot (79f) room. That would put the whoopin' stick on anything short of high end water.

@aigo: keep in mind that graysky DOES have some ridiculously good oc's with minimal vcore on his x3360. I'm almost tempted to try switching out my x3350 with the q9450 just to see if there is difference in what oc's I can get on an identical system. Almost. I think I can wait until weds night to really compare these two bad boys.

I would think that even a lapped true with push/pull would have major issues at 3.8 on a 65nm quad. I know that my tuniq, even unlapped and with minimal installation effort (no reseating or anything like that), was fine at 3.7. I'd probably want to lap both the tuniq and ihs to try running there or higher 24/7, however.

If you don't care about retail boxes and have a Fry's location near you, they have the OEM chip for $10 less, too. Just thought someone would be interested in that. :)
