Better get busy with that Windows 10 upgrade.

It ends 6am EST Saturday morning.

It's upgrading now. 84% 45 minutes to the deadline and going very slowly.

I expect to downgrade soon after, and hope it doesn't screw up my Windows 7.

The best bet would be to have made a Windows 7 image first. Upgrade to Windows 10 and activate it. Then you could go back to Windows 7.

Upgrade or clean install to Windows 10 anytime you want since you now have a digital entitlement.

I was hesitant to upgrade to Win10... mainly because of the hardware lock on the motherboard. So I did the logical thing by buying a whole new PC and then upgrading to Win10... avoiding that <$100 cost to upgrade later. Ha, ha, ha...

Last summer I ran the upgrade on a W7 machine using an H67 board and a Sandy Bridge i3 + HD5770. That ran perfectly fine. Also upgraded an 8.1 system without a hitch (that I later did a fresh install on from a W10 USB stick to get it in EFI only mode; there was some issue when I originally installed Windows with the CD drive and EFI only booting on my board).

I've been on W10 since it launched essentially. No issues on the 2 computers i've had it running on. And if you have an SSD you'll probably notice some slight improvements to general responsiveness on the desktop compared to W7.

We're still not as bad as the sheep who foolishly "upgrade" to a POS just because Microsoft tells them to do it. When Microsoft wants you to do something it's a pretty good sign that you shouldn't listen.

XP with internet explorer was going to ruin the internet
XP with 64 bit was going to ruin gaming
Vista was going to bar burning CDs and make all digital content come from Microsoft
Windows 7 was going to be a secure version of vista but will lock down digital purchases
Window 8 was going to be the death of all of us with apps & a windows store
Now windows 10....

From a thoroughly satisfied windows 10 user.

But now Microsoft knows what kind of porn I like to tug my peepee to.
They're the last ones to know. Your isp already knows, and if you use chrome so does Google. Microsoft is the only one getting media attention though.

Still happy on Windows 7. Congrats to those who upgrade. I hope you enjoy being the product.
