Alek's x-mas lights were a hoax!

For the last two years he set up a webcam so users could control lights during certain hours. He had this huge production, which let you view different zones of the house, and toggle the displays. This year, it got huge, and news of it got international.

Not really a big deal, but just sorta cool how he fooled everyone for two years, and that many people.

No harm done tho. Only an interesting story if you tried to access the lights, lol.

He says, in the first real paragraph, that his name is "Alek", not "Alex". The FIRST flipping paragraph.

Man-wench. :|

Huh? What does that mean? Yeah, I corrected it, but what is a "man-wench"?

haha... anyone actually find the hoax more interesting than if it were real? 😀

I think the really stupid part is that this would not be THAT hard to do for real with off-the-shelf parts. He spent more energy making this hoax look realistic than he would have just buying a CM11A and setting up any of a number of free and cheap X10 apps that let you control modules via a web page and putting up some wireless webcams in your neighbors yard (which he did ANYWAY). Many have done similar things in their homes.

Why fake it when faking it is harder than doing it for real?
