Aldi Samsung Mini DV Camcorder $299.00.. Hot or Not?

This is a good price on a minidv camcorder. Nov 2003 Consumer Reports show this as the LOWEST rated digital camcorder. For about $300, it is still a good buy if you are a first-time camcorder buyer and only need a basic digital camcorder for taking video.

1. Quick question, guys:
As far as I know, in Europe Aldi is a chain grocery store, one of the most expensive - while in the US, to say the least, it is not.
Did anybody have good experience buying computers, TVs, any electronics from Aldi?

2. Aldi is quite special store. What if we publish here all Aldi deals, if you know any.

Thank you.

Aldi is fine to buy from as far as returns, etc....The only problem I see buying from them is that they take CASH or Debit Cards only, no CCs. And since you have to go into a B&M store, you have to pay sales tax.

So like....who is the highest rated?

Has anyone got Best Buy to pricematch this? I tried one of ours and they wouldn't do it. They said "they're probably refurbs", which of course they're not. My Best Buys around here suck for pricematches, they always have some BS reason why they can't do it. If Aldi took Amex I'd probaby buy one of these, but I don't buy anything anymore unless I can use my Amex card.

I didn't buy one, but the computer system that they sold this time last year, Medion brand, got rave reviews from Anandtechers. They had 24-hour toll-free support that was supposed to be excellent, the parts in the computer were top-notch, the computer ran nearly silent, and it overall seemed to have been put together by a computer nerd-type person who really knew his stuff -- the kind of person who hangs out at Anandtech. 😉

Lol, "they're probably refurbs" is such a lame line, I can't believe you let them slide away with something like that.

Yeah, "They're probably refurbs..." Sounds like a line from a car salesman, when you come to them with a better offer....car salesmen/Best buy sales reps.......ya think? 🙂

Krutoy - Yeah, it was a lame line from a lame manager. Since Aldi's was already closed, there was no way they would do the match even if I pushed it. The usual crap goes something like "Please wait for a half hour while we see if they have it in stock....sorry, they don't have it in stock so we can 't match it...". Morons.
