Damn, you guys aren't much help.

Well, considering that pure ethanol smells like....wait for it...ALCOHOL, one can imagine that it would be pretty hard to "cover that up."

If it's really that big a deal for someone to smell alcohol on your breath, maybe you shouldn't drink when you're going to get into those situations. Perhaps I'm unusual, but I drink for recreation, at which point I don't care if people smell it on my breath.

Off the top of my head, the chief situations where it would be a problem is if you're drinking and driving, drinking before work, or drinking to boost your confidence and self-esteem. Any one of which is a little scary.😉

What about drinking before a ridiculously boring class? Or taking the edge off before an exam?

The alcohol left in the bottle can't be smelled on the breath.

If you're in College/University, why care if you smell of alcohol for an Exam?

That asked, if you need to "take the edge off", I'd be concerned. You're going to have a lot more stressful situations after College/University where "taking the edge off prior to dealing with it is going to develope into a problem or even Unemployment. Deal with the stress sober.

OTOH, using alcohol to wind down after stress isn't near as bad. Just don't use it as a crutch to get through stuff.

The absolute best would be the purest alcohol you can get. That would be vodka that's been distilled multiple times (most any better vodka is). I prefer Shakers.

Unless you want to mask it with something else, ala peppermint schnapps etc.

I showed up for a few college exams nicely buzzed. It was the only way to make the tests challenging. FYI, the courses were Intro to Computers and College Algebra. Who's going to get all up in arms if you smell like booze in class?

In high school I ahd one class after lunch where 2 guys were always comming in smellign like pot. And in college I've had tiems where people came in smelling of alcohol, but why woudl you even go to class in the first palce if you were drunk?

If your class is so boring that you have to drink to put up with it, you might as well not show up.

And if you need to drink to "take the edge off" before a test, I'd worry about becoming dependent to alcohol. Really, the best way to know the material, study the night before, get a good night's sleep, and show up sober and rested.

I thought ethanol didn't have a smell. I think anything you were smelling was the rest of beverage.

I looked it up, you're right. I was thinking about the ethanol plants I always used to smell in Indiana. But the pure stuff is odorless; the smell comes from the mash they use to distill it from.

But that's basically part of the distillation process, and since I believe it's illegal to synthesize ethanol for human consumption by other methods...

3 parts 100 proof Vodka
2 parts Peppermint Schnapps
1 part Crème De Mint for added flavor
Store in Scope mouthwash bottles.

The no-tell, no-smell scotch!

Haha maybe you are talking about the movie but if you are not that is almost a direct quote from toy soldiers. Only difference is
"2parts pepermint schnapps for that mouthwas taste,
1part crème de mint for that mouth was color."

But same recipe. Anyways yeah I've tried them all and vodka is the one I heard first and it doesn't work. My job allows me to be drunk during special matches where I need to bleed a lot or need a little extra courage to do something that could kill me and if I chose messed up on pills and stuff if I chose so long as when near fans I am not obvious. Well vodka gin and even peppermint schnapps all seemed to be detected by fans many times so I personally see it as a myth.

Like I said if I went to have a hardcore match then I would drink a little to thin the blood so if I bled it would bleed nicely. Others take asprin. But me I figure if I have the choice and I know I'm going through a flaming barb wired wrapped table then if I can take one that will loosen me up enough not to think about it and tense up and just let me be loose and do it then that's what I take. 9yrs of serious hardcore and not a single injury do to that looseness so there is a situation you wouldn't want fans to smell it.
