Mixed drinks made with Cola will also help ... also try eating a high protein meal mybe 2.5 hours before you go out & avoid the heavy/starchy stuff which is typical of bar food.

Of course the best bet is to not drink.

If the sleepiness is caused by not getting enough sleep, "fixing" it with stimulants will be very bad for your health. Don't go any stronger than coffee, at the most, or you're seriously asking for trouble. Remember all those drugs that have killed people when they were called perfectly safe, and remember that Red Bull and the like are not tested anywhere near as thoroughly. Labels like "herbal" and "all natural" are not to be trusted- they really mean "untested" and "we have no idea how this works, but we're putting it in your food to make a buck".

Maybe you're just drinking or absorbing the alcohol too quickly. Try smaller portions, timing yourself, eating before you go out as mentioned earlier...oh, and don't forget a glass of water between drinks. Don't be ashamed to drink less than your friends.

If coffee doesn't do it, and you're not drinking too much, and you're getting enough sleep, maybe you're just a lightweight. This is not a bad thing. Be glad you don't have to worry about becoming an alcoholic.

Problem solved.

Being tired is what makes a lot of people stop drinking, so be careful when you are doing this. And if you are going to be doing this, eat first. Advise from my deployment days. :)

When I drink, for the first hour or so its great. Then I become tired. Very sleepy.
I am going out with my friends saturday and I need to be able to stay awake, but I will be drinking. We are having a small get together afterwards.
Anyone have this problem and remedy it? Coffee doesn't seem to help. Maybe something stronger?

Stop drinking, problem solved. Next!

Blow, adderall, or ritalin work. Or so I've been told.

Other than that, I'd suggest taking a nap beforehand or drink a Coke or Mountain Dew after every other drink.

i tried adderall one night for staying awake, it was by far the best feeling i've ever had, ever. unfortunately, i took about 3 or 4 and ended up with a pounding heart, high BP, and lots of puking for a day.

in other words, don't do that.

might be a hint:p
some people esp asians are prone to not breaking down alcohol well. one symptom is face flush, another is extreme drowsiness. if you continue despite such hints you get that wonderful increased chance of cancer.

Hell yeah... adderall (and less so ritalin) and beer are like peanut butter and jelly. Never had the puking though, just the whole 30 minutes of sleep the whole night kinda thing. :p
