Schadenfroh, thanks for the update on the er... update. Downloading now.

More good news with this new version, it now offers you the option not to install the toolbar, just uncheck and you will not have to go into add/remove programs later, I am going to update the OP to reflect that, one less thing for people to complain about!

Alcohol 52%, 68% and 120% are all excellent software. I've been using 120% for all my CD duplication and image creation needs since I first learnt of it 5 or 6 years ago.

The toolbar is required when you install the current version of Alcohol 52%. If it's not spyware, and you can uninstall it, why do they force you to install?

I wasn't forced to install it. I just unchecked the box during the install process.

Quick question: Are the images created by Alcohol 52% in .iso format, or in some other (proprietary) format? I briefly looked on the website, but could not find the answer.

It seems between this and CDBurnerXP and/or ImgBurn (both free), you could have most of your CD burning needs taken care of with freeware if Alcohol 52% rips images in .iso format.

Software? What software? We don't need no stinkin' software!

(Yes, those are all real drives. And that's without my flash drive plugged in - two more letters)

I just installed the latest version of Alcohol 52% Free Edition and I can verify that it does indeed ask if you want to install the toolbar or not. During the install, it appears as a checkbox (that is checked by default). Uncheck it during the install wizard and it will not install and you will not have to use add/remove programs to dispose of it later. Again, Alcohol 52% does not require the toolbar to function.

.mds / .mdf

Thanks for the reply. This seems like a proprietary format, but there may be an app that can burn or convert these images.
