So please explain how the new Speaker voted to Impeach a man for corruption, conspiracy, perjury and falsification of documents and now wants him to be Chair of the House Select Committee on Intelligence. A man that according to the articles of Impeachment that Pelosi voted on to Impeach him:

?(formed) a corrupt relationship? with William Borders. Hastings ?repeated false testimony? and engaged in the ?fabrication of false documents which were submitted as evidence at his criminal trial?.

This is the man she chooses for the Intelligence committee. This guy, and Murtha, who is as corrupt as any in Congress will lead us to where??

Wake up Nancy and smell the Republicans taking the White house in 2008. Make better choices than this please. There are plenty of Democrats in Congress without the baggage, so why not use them..unless you are showing your true colors?

No, Hastings is only a member, not Chairman, according to the CBC website. Nevertheless, it's relevant, because, as any Democrat will tell you, any powerful African American charged or convicted of a crime was clearly framed. OJ, Tyson, Marion Barry, Hastings - all victims of white America!

My fault

I thought that I had read where he was the Chair.

As you state, pandering to your radical base does not just apply to the Republicans.

Wow!

Murtha is backed by Pelosi and Hastings was impeached then lauded as the man for he job, and only three people seem intrigued.

From this I see that the only difference between the Repubs and Dems is that the Dems scream louder. We just traded one set of corrupt politicians for another...what a deal:disgust:

Either the Republicans are fast learners or they were just looking for an excuse (the elections) to showcase their talents.

Had they lost badly; no one would have been sweating who was in charge of either house for two days.

I was talking more of able to be as corrupt asn self-serving as the Republicans that the claimed were so impure.

Pot, meet kettle.

Seems to me that Pelosi is starting off in an odd way....

So many claims by her to purge Congress of corruption, then she starts off by backing Murtha (of AbScam fame etc) and Hastings?

I heard earlier that Murtha lost in his bid for the Dem leadership position, not a good start for Pelosi.

Wow, I had no idea that guy got impeached. I can't believe this isn't a bigger story. What the hell are Democrats thinking by putting this guy in this kind of position?

I believe that he resigned before he was impeached.

Therefore, according to the Dem leadership; he has a clean slate

Now that the super defective repubs get thrown out for being---super corrupt---the repubs wait in the wings and point out every place where the dems are a hair less than perfect.

Get a clue---pointing out the dems are less than perfect will not begin to cleanse a single republican----what is needed now is some republican visits to the GOP party car wash.
And cheer up---singing Jack and and the justice department may soon do it for the GOP.---and flush a dem or two down the toilet also.

And when it comes sentencing time--forgive me for being partisan and shouting---four more years--or eight more years.

Funny how you guys accuse Republicans of always pointing to Democrats everytime a thread about a corrupt Republican comes up, now you are doing the exact same thing.

Either house. The House of Representatives was clear well before the elections. Only the Senate was up for grabs and nobody expected the Dems to win it. It's a sea-change in terms of elections.
The Republicans are worse than impure. Let's hope the Dems finally do the correct thing and clean up. If they don't, we'll put the other crooks back in charge. They've got 12 years to prove themselves. Of course we'll need that Presidency thing in 08 for a true test.
