there are studies that say that one glass of red wine daily, or three times a week is actually good for you.

problem is... i could never have just one glass of anything.

recently i heard that 1 drink a day is good for you(a standard size of anything). All it does though is lower stress(which can have a huge impact on health) but your liver is still gonna hate you.

..the health myth is largly booze industry propaganda. I've never had a doctor that recomends the "one drink a day" and all tell me there's no safe exposure level..alcohol is deeply ingrained into American society and there's a huge booze industry that promotes it every oppertunity. Sooner or later drinkers will suffer the result of alcohol exposure..it's a personal choice based on cause and effect reasoning. Good luck.

Ethanol is a poison.

Beer and wine may contain compounds that are good for you, one which is NOT alcohol.

People that drink in moderation live longer than people that abstain completely from alcohol.

It probably isn't related to alcohol so much as it is a lifestyle. But the point remains.

the doctor recommened my father have a few a day to help clean out his catheter.

ive know more people who drink in moderation that lived longer than teetotalers. less health problems, also. but thats just anecdotal, no science.

beer is best and then wine, booze is hardest on your body, even just one shot of 80 proof booze is harder on your body than a high test beer

some good, but more is not better

I think drinking 1 or 2 (no more than 2) alcohlic beverages daily has some sort of health benefit.

In small amounts it is relaxing and probably has positive health benefits. I know for a fact a glass of red wine helps the heart. Hard alcohol probably isn't good for you in whatever dosage...it's too potent.

You spelled alcohol wrong all three times, did you seriously not know how to spell it?

I guess it's like...I never know how to spell "sentence." Or is it "sentance?"

One nice thing about alcohol too..for me...is that a small glass of dessert wine replaces a traditional dessert.

A small glass of wine is about 100-150 calories. A slice of pie, piece of cake, or bowl of ice cream can easily be double, triple, or even more than that.

Obviously having neither is the best option, but again I point back to the studies that show that light drinkers live longer than non-drinkers.

alcahol is probably bad.
alcohol on the other hand is good.
as in good/fun to drink, not good for your health.
there are claims that a lil is good for youa ndw hine etc can be good but i dunno how much/how often is considered ideal

those who say a drink or two a day is not good for you have not based this on any scientific evidence or studies of which can be found all over the net on reputable sites.

alcohol is a blood thinner, and also raises HDL cholesterol, the "good'' kind.
and that is the whole premise behind a drink a day being good for the heart. thinner blood is not going to contribute to plaque buildup in the arteries which leads to a heart attack or stroke.

there you have it

the only reason the medical community does not want to embrace this is because they are leary that it will lead to heavy drinking.
