Hello,
Can anyone tell me anything about this card? Positive or negative? I was thinking of an ATI, but I didn't hear good things about their drivers. Pls. Advise. Thanks

the days when ati's drivers were severely lacking are gone. They aren't as good as nvidia's yet, but have come a long way. Remember that the ti4600 only supports directx8 shaders, so if you are looking to play half-life 2 or doom 3 it would not be a very good decision. If you don't care about directx9 compatibility, i'd recoomend the ti4200. You'd get a lot more bang for the buck because most ti4200's overclock well, sometimes to 4600 speeds. For a little more than a ti4200 i'd reccomend the radeon 9600 pro. However, in my opinion, the best deal out there is the 9800 non pro. You can pickup the sapphire 9800np at newegg for about 240 and most of them will run at pro speeds, meaning you get a 340 dollar card for about 100 less.

Unless you can get this for cheap (ie well under 150) then forget it. It doesn't support DirectX9, and will die at the sight of Half Life 2 or Doom3. It's a great card, still, but at it's usual $175 price tag, you can get better.

I'm running this card in my home pc. I love it! Of course that could be because I upgraded from a Geforce 2 Ti and the difference was staggering. My friend's got an Albatron Geforce 4 4400 and my car is noticeably faster than his. I can run Unreal Tournament 2k3 with all details on at 1024x768 beautifully(the game goes "Holy Sh|T" when you enable all the detail settings, lol).
The only con I've found with the card is that it runs pretty damn hot. The temps in my case went up a good 5C when I added it so I had to upgrade my fans. I added a fan controller and two 45cfm Sanyo Denkii's. Other than having to crank yhe fans up all the way when playing, I have no complaints. Definitely a good card for 160-170 or so. If you can find it!
