ALAN WAKE available for preorder!

I started pitchin a tent when I read the thread title....then I remembered in a recent interview they said PC version is still a maybe. =/

I really hope that link is correct though!

This.

I remember hearing that this game was going to be the "greatest thing EVER!" back in 2007.

Yeah, it's almost 2010...

Well the game is confirmed to be complete and coming out at this point, its just a question of whether or not it's coming out on PC or just Xbox.

Wasn't Duke Nukem Forever CONFIRMED! and available for pre-order at some point too?

No, DNF was never confirmed to be complete. They never changed from their "Its done when its done" release date. You could pre-order it at a couple stores, but 3D Realms never claimed it was coming out.

Alan Wake was playable at E3, and was recently confirmed by Remedy to be complete.

From Wiki:
"On August 17, Matias Myllyrinne, managing director at Remedy, claimed that Alan Wake is 'done', and is undergoing final polishing. [11]" Meaning Microsoft set the release date in the Spring, so they're just going to spend time now polishing up any graphics they're unhappy with and any final gameplay tweaks that are needed.

I remember a lot of people paying top dollar for the "bleeding edge" Q6600 for this game haaahaaaaaaaaaaaa.

An overclocked Q6600 will still be faster than nearly any stock CPU at this point...

Yeah, but people payed 100 dollars more for bleeding edge thinking Alan Wake was coming out that year. Blew my mind.

This. I had AW in the back of my mind when opting for a quad instead of a duo, but my primary concern was how kickass the G0 Q6600 was at OC'ing. I usually just sit around 3.0 because it's absurdly easy/stable/cold. Why not pay a bit extra for a chip that will run 25% faster without breaking a sweat?

The Q6600 is still a beast there is no arguing that. The enxt logically upgrade in my mind for the Q6600 is a I7 or I9.

Alan Wake changed during its disappearance.

It is no longer a psychological thriller: it is now another zombie horror shooter, replete with combat shotgun.

Remedy straight up sold out, and this thread belongs in the consoles section.

Without a doubt. I bought this Q6600 in Nov .. '07? And I still have absolutely no reason to be looking for a processor upgrade. Given, I don't play many PC games anymore (lack of time, not lack of desire 🙁 ), but my machine still handles everything I throw at it just fine. Of course, I did update the graphics card.. but it's hardly being truly CPU bottlenecked.
