Alabama WR

KLin

Lifer
ouch

Got this from a scout.com message board

Just got off the phone with a buddy who lives in Foley Alabama and he a huge Bama' Alumnus/fan.

The WR Prothro who suffered the terrible injury Saturday was operated on mere hours after the game. Bama' flew in a top notch Orthopedic surgeon and the young man spend Sunday night sleeping in dorm room.

I saw that incident live on tv and remind me of Joe T from the Redskins.

Hopefully, this young guy will be back to normal.

Ouch.

Reminds me of the injury I sustained playing, well, football.

Dislocated and broke my ankle; result - left ankle pointing straight left (similar to the picture). Required surgery too (still have some hardware in there today).

Dislocation was MUCH more painful than the break. Inside of my ankle swelled to the size of a softball.

yep. everytime i see something like this, i am instantly reminded of lawrence taylors hit on theismann. hopefully the guy is able to return.

Used to have a collection of vids like that.

wrestler arm break
kick boxer leg break
power lifter wrist break

Tyrone Prothro is one of the more exciting WRs in college football. He has lined up at every skill position on the offensive side of the ball and returned kicks and punts as well. Example: his amazing behind the receiver catch against So. Miss (select week 2 - Alabama vs So. Miss).

Reports are that he will be out for 6 months to a year. He broke both bones in his leg but didn't suffer any ligament damage. Prothro is one of the "good guys" in college athletics so wish him a speedy recovery.

I saw that on live TV. It turned my stomach then, I don't need to see it again. 🙂

I definately feel bad for the kid, he was an exciting player to watch. UA, however, does not get a share of that sympathy.

Those folks up in Tuscaloser are going to have some problems, Prothro made that offense go. His playmaking ability opened things up for the other recievers and forced defenses to play the pass and not stack too much against the run. It definately serves Mike Shula right though, there was no need to have your starters in the game with 9:00 left in a blowout.

mofo sick ass friends rewound that just left it frozen on the 65" screen where his foot is like sideways the wrong way

ugh that stuff makes me sick!

If there was one position that Alabama could afford an injury at it was at WR where they are deepest. Keith Brown and DJ Hall are having great years while Zeke Knight and Matt Caddell are going to have to step it up. As long as Croyle and Darby stay healthy the offense should continue to hum along.

But, I guess there was no need for Tele-Tubby to keep his starters in against SC with Auburn up 41-0 either, eh? Yet they went ahead and ran up another TD with a pass from Cox to Aromashodu at the start of the fourth quarter.

You'll get no disagreement from me on that. Don't forget that senseless injury to Croyle last year too.

Edit: Although it was very enjoyable to see Coach Superior get his teeth kicked in like that.

Tell that to Keith Brown and DJ Hall.

I'll believe it when I see it. It is certainly my opinion that Prothro is/was pro-level talent and his ability opened things up for other players. We'll see if those other players can step up and make those same plays now that Prothro is out.

Or Kenneth Darby.

Or most importantly, Brodie Croyle. He is by far the most important cog in that offense.

I hate losing Prothro too, but we still have plenty of tools at wideout and I've got full confidence in our kick returners to step up. Where we'll miss Prothro the most is how he was able to lineup in the backfield a few times a game just to give the defense fits.

wow that is horrible. i broke my ankle last january and it definitely was no fun at all 🙁

Fortunately, it wasn't his ankle. He broke his fibia and tibia above the ankle. Still horrific and not something you'd wish on anybody. But, it is much easier to come back from than a broken ankle.

should have figured you were a aub. If it makes you feel any better about your chances this year then keep thinking that...someone is skeered...and rightfully so. 😉
