Alabama state quarter

What the hell were they thinking when they put Helen Keller on the Alabama quarter? Every other state quarter has some nature scene or something the state is proud of.
I highly doubt anyone in Alabama is proud of Helen.

Well, Hellen Keller is great, but I wouldn't expect her to have been on the quarter. If her name were not on it, nobody would recognise who it was. Why not something a little more recognizable, like the Vulcan or the Mid-bay lighthouse? Why not the Yellowhammer (state bird)?

At least they didn't put Don Siegelman on there... 😛

Yeah, I was kind of surprised to see that. I was most disappointed in the CA state quarter though. There are so many cool things they could put on the CA quarter and they chose a few that are less than distinctive (John Muir?)
