And that's *if* they can get the time off from work.

why couldnt tney get time off from work? do you work every weekday with no days off for PTO? ive heard of no job where you work EVERY single day of the week from jan-dec. Part time people get plenty of time off the clock to take care of their business and to plan for it.

like i said, nothing but lame excuses.

Dont canadians have to show ID to vote now? do you have your ID?

Here you go;

In Canada, the Federal government mails an Elections Canada registration confirmation card, which the voter takes to the polling station. The card tells the individual where and when to vote. Voters must prove their identity and address with one of three options:[5]

Show one original government-issued piece of identification with photo, name and address, like a driver's license or a health card.
Show two original pieces of authorized identification. Both pieces must have a name and one must also have an address. Examples: student ID card, birth certificate, public transportation card, utility bill, bank/credit card statement, etc.
Take an oath and have an elector who knows the voter vouch for them (both of whom must make a sworn statement). This person must have authorized identification and their name must appear on the list of electors in the same polling division as the voter. This person can only vouch for one person and the person who is vouched for cannot vouch for another elector.
Provincial elections Edit
However, in some provinces like in Quebec, a voter must establish their identity by presenting a health insurance card, a driver’s license, a Canadian passport, a certificate of Indian status, or a Canadian Forces ID.[6] These are all photos IDs.

Clueless, you are.

Clueless, you are.

humm lets see, i work full-time and take PTO often to take care of stuff like this.

my wife works 12 hour 3 day on 3 day off rotating days and night shifts, she takes care of shit like this on her days off.

my oldest is in the Navy and works 6 days on and 3 days off and takes care of shit like this on her days off.

my 2 remaining teens at home work part time and have most week days off and have no issue with finding somebody to give them a ride to take care of shit like this.

yea i guess im clueless.

Congrats! It sounds like you are well taken care of by our government!

I'm curious what you would do if you didn't have PTO, would you tell your work to suck it?

edit: and your point regarding voting id apparently didn't go the way you expected?

Yes he would because nobody works paycheck to paycheck in this country without PTO.

How about the state get off their fat rich white asses as goto every black resident who's county DMV was closed. Since that was the reason they closed them.

Remember this is why Republicans are enacting voter ID across the country

Since we lose more votes in handling ballots after the vote is cast where are those reforms??? He isn't really worried about our precious Democracy. Its all about suppressing minority votes because the population of angry white men is shrinking each year.

Like I said before, it isn't Republicans who are idiotically claiming that minorities are so stupid and inept that the concept of getting a photo ID is beyond them.

It's not dems either so...perhaps you can shove that straw man where you pull your posts from...your ass.

Which means that "lazy people" shouldn't be allowed to vote, right?

Because they're "lazy", of course.

Or maybe they just don't need the kind of ID you insist they should have in their day to day lives. It seems clear that they survive without it except when they want to vote.

It isn't clear that they "survive" since no one can do anything in today's society without photo ID. Just be honest and admit that you hate how difficult it is for ineligible people to vote in elections.

It simply means they need to get themselves to a DMV and get the ID so they can vote. I cannot imagine this day and age it will be difficult to get somewhere, by bus, or with a friend.

Of course it's not difficult, there isn't a single functioning adult anywhere who can tie their shoes and not go to the DMV to get a photo ID and join the rest of us in 2015. Liberals just enjoy lying about millions of idiots who somehow have jobs, bank accounts, and credit cards but no photo identification.

Have you ever watched Wild Alaska, etc? They all survive without a photo ID.

Sure are a lot of lame excuses flying in here on why people can't get to a dmv.
Dude, we're talking about people who don't have driver's licenses; that generally means they also don't have cars. We're talking about those people (a significant percentage of the working poor) having to travel to a whole 'nother county to a DMZ now serving multiple counties. That is not a trivial exercise, and given the new work load will likely take the day. I would be pissed if I had to do it.

I am all for voter ID laws, but not at this cost. This doesn't pass the smell test. If Alabama cannot afford to maintain a DMV in every county capable of handling the increased load, then Alabama cannot afford voter ID laws, period. The benefit is far less than the burden.

You just can't help making up your own arguments can you? Can we assume you are doing this intentionally because you can't argue against his actual position?

How many really poor people have bank accounts & credit cards?

Bottom line is show me proof that in-person voter fraud is happening at a significant level and I'll be all for it (photo ID) if it is easily available and free to all eligible voters.

But I doubt you have any proof at all to show, I await your links.

You seriously can't put yourself in someone else's shoes? Someone who might have fewer resources available than you do?

Bus: you need public transit that is both readily accessible and goes where you need it to go in a reasonable amount of time.

Friend: you need a friend with a car that can also take time out of their schedule to drive you to and from the DMV, while also having to wait there with you.

Personal situations: You actually need to be able to afford to take time off from work, to spend hours going to and from the DMV for something that you never needed before. You also might have to expend time and money getting replacements of documents that are required for obtaining an ID.

Wow, those are some nightmare scenarios you've laid out. It's amazing these poor people are able to leave their houses since everything is such a hellish struggle for survival. How do they go to the grocery store? How do they go to work? Oh my god, how do they go to the bathroom? Have you contacted Spielberg to make a movie about these poor victims and the waking nightmares they go through on a daily basis? First Schindler's List and now this.
