Alabama Governor offends just about every religion that's not Christianity.

Granted, this is Alabama, and comments like this are to be expected by the general masses. However, Alabama's newly inaugurated governor mere days into his administration comes out swinging for the fence and knocking it out of the park.

"Anybody here today who has not accepted Jesus Christ as their savior, I'm telling you, you're not my brother and you're not my sister, and I want to be your brother," Bentley said Monday, his inauguration day, according to The Birmingham News.

Sure, the last fragment of the sentence appears under the guise of an olive branch, but... well, I'm simply speechless.

I say we send this guy over to Afghanistan and China as a diplomat. I'm sure he'd get a lot accomplished. What a way to start an administration!

Hell anybody who's Mother isn't also his Aunt isn't this guys brother

How did he offend any religion? He's just saying that people who hold a different belief are not his "brother" or "sister". So what? Who cares if he considers you his brother or sister?

As my friend who moved from Minnesota to Arkansas told me:

"The South isn't that bad! It's a lot like Minnesota except everyone's stupid!"

Christians are hilarious.

"What? How is that offensive?"

Imagine how they would change their tunes if the governor had said:

"Anybody here today who has not accepted Allah as their god, I'm telling you, you're not my brother and you're not my sister, and I want to be your brother."

Why not just call a moron a moron and be done with it?

It doesn't really matter what he said or which "side" he's on...anyone who prostelytizes like that is a hack who doesn't deserve to be listened to. That this guy is a governor is unfortunate, but that doesn't mean his fundamentalist babble is at all relevant. Just don't pay attention to it.

In the rest of the speech he essentially stood up to defend Alabama's states rights.

He's obviously a religious person, so you pick a stupid line that none of us here would have said to attack him. You're not attacking him for the value of that line though, you want to tear him apart to keep anyone from stepping out of line from the dictation of your socialist utopia.

Was this line of attack your idea?

The party of big tents and tolerance, I'm sure.

While that's pretty tame for Alabama, looks like Maine isn't the only state with a new unprofessional idiot for Governor. Oh well.

Look, anything against Christianity is fine with liberals. However, when you start promoting it, unless it is Islam, then the hate comes out.

States rights, BABY!

sorry, still wouldn't care.

he has the freedom to want to convert us all to his religion. as long he doesnt try and legislate it, you will find no offense here

Wow. First page and already the race card. In a thread that has nothing to do with race.

Must be getting desperate.

Revisionist history FTL. Keep telling yourself that "state's rights" wasn't used to discriminate against a segment of the population.

they just got whipped in the election, they are desperate

Jer. 5:21 (King James version): "Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not."
