Yet more proof that Obama sucks!!

At least Bush was killing the #2 guys! Obama can't even accomplished that and instead has to settle for the #3 guy, sad.

Time to get the boys home. Leave the CIA and the Predators for targeted strikes.

What do you mean can't? Can't is not in my vocabulary. We need to study more of the second Boer war and less of the tactics these powder puff generals like McCrystal is shoveling. Or how just about any insurgency from Alexander the Great until MacArthur was fired would work too.

Not to be too cynical or pessimistic, but this reminds me of all the progress charts and body counts from 'Nam. Remind me again, how'd that work out?

Point is, I suspect we could be overselling our "success" in taking out "command and control" of an enemy really not based as much on our western style hierarchical organizational flow charts and shit.

Just saying.

Something to keep in mind when, having killed lebenty-leven #3's and such a few years from now, Al Quaeda somehow magically seems more entrenched than ever.

I cant tell if this is sarcasm or not because it is late...

There is no way to "win" in Afghanistan short of an all out invasion/occupation/draft/nuclear strikes/etc.

We should have learned from the Soviets.

You would have no problem with recruitment if you gave 20 acres of oil feild to every enlistee like Roman legions. Yes that means we start at the source, Arabia.:p

Course I know what you mean, we cant as in politically it's unfeasible these days which is why I question pretty much any war in the first place as a waste and usually counter productive.

Agreed.

Killing any of these nutjobs is a good thing no matter how you look at it, but it's very much like stomping on ants -- it might make you feel better, but it's just not going to impact the colony size.

Not only did we take #3 out with a drone strike, we took out a bunch of women and children in the process.

Last week the US military had the galling task of admitting to the world that a bunch of idiot drone operators were exaggerating and distorting what they really saw to their superior officers, and as a result they killed a large number of totally innocent civilians.

And right now, the UN is very seriously thinking about outlawing the use of drones in warfare.

As we can see, drones can be very useful, but its all to easy to abuse their use. And its very questionable IMHO, given the net hatreds drones have focused on Nato in the tribal areas of Pakistan, on weather drones have been a net assert or bigger net liability.

I thought Bush always killed or captured #3, not #2. The #2 guy is that Eygptian doctor.

Of course, at least one of the #3 Bush claimed credit for turned out to be Osama's occassional driver. But still you have to admit #3 in AQ is not a job you take for the pension plan.
