The station's Kabul office was hit by the US during the war in Afghanistan.
The Americans then insisted the attack was accidental.
Cheering, kind of like every propag...err news story that Al Jazeera puts out showing Iraq valiantly slaughtering the infidels and crusaders? They crossed the line of ethical unbiased journalism long ago. Heck I'm pretty sure they never even were anywhere near the other side of the line!Originally posted by: drewshin
yeah, people like dari cheering that innocent people died.
al-jazeera is only a template of what you will hopefully see more of in the arab region in the future, maybe even iraq? it shows an arab point of view, but it is one of the few stations to be critical of their governments.

innocent sure is a suspect term, you certainly could make the argument that AJ has "taken a side" on this moreso than any other new agency out there, including the nefarious and sinister fox news.

They were behind a machine gun position. On the live feed that there reruning you can see the shell casings flying up into there camera view.
Nice shot by the F-15.

let's not forget that this is the same al-jazeera that is vehementay anti-american. The humilation of arab/muslim forces in afghanistan and Iraq has made them the international mouthpieces of the Iraq Information Ministry, Al Qaeda and other puritans of islamic ideology. This is what they get for cozying up with Saddam Hussein's outlaw regime.

of course it's some parts of their news service that is vehemently against the war and the u.s., does that make it "anti-american"? they are catering to their viewers, which news outlet doesnt? im sure if you were an arab and saw an american news broadcast, you'd be disgusted as well. also, im not sure where ive seen that they've cozied up with saddam, they might have better contacts, have more access etc. on the flip side, who would you expect to get an interview with the president, barbara walters or an al-jazeera reporter?
these reporters were just reporting the news as they saw it, and unless they were deliberately helping the iraqis, they are not our enemy.

The sad part is that we went to war half the way around the world, so that you could live in a free country and express an opinion like that.
What is exactly is Al Jazeera's bias? Again, what are you basing your views on? Have been to seen there news or have you even read english.aljazeera.com? Al-Jazeera show the scenes of carnage on the streets of Iraq, do you see that on CNN, MSNBC, or Fox News? No, we only see the sanitized version of the news....there are other arab news stations that are relatively independent of their governments and they are much more impartial than al-jazeera.
Like? CNN International? Of course they won't be disgusted if they see news with no death!Second, there are western news services with local services in the middle east and the arabs there aren't disgusted by what they see.
I hope they don't get to see the Fox News style of journalism. Sarcasm aside, you do have a valid point here. Al-Jazeera is the only independent Arab news service. The western news outlets present a different style of journalism that the local populace isn't used to.
Wrong, Al-Jazeera receive funding from the state of Qatar (isn't it ironic that is the same country hosting US CenCom?), and do NOT have advertisers or a market audience to apease. Like I said earlier, they are independent -- more so than most US news services. Finally, the reporters, as you've mentioned earlier, are deliberatly being biased to appease the local populace. Hence, they aren't being impartial
Anti-US policy does NOT equate to anti-Western. Believe it or not, the people in the Arab region are not "anti-Western", but anti-US policy. This anger is directed at the policies of the US government in the region. See how "anti-war" has been construed to mean "unpatriotic" for a political purpose? Well, the same applies to "anti-US policy" being construed as "anti-Western".Hell, the government supported arab stations can be just as anti-western as al-jazeera in order to appease the populace.
