I always liked the general message of preventing global warming, which is to quit being a douchebag about littering and waste. Plus, I've noticed that going "Green" usually will benefit your local business/family more directly then benefiting some national/worldwide corporation.

Being clean, resourceful, and respectable to the environment is pretty awesome. But not everybody enjoys the outdoors I guess.

Views on global warming
Despite having no educational or scientific credentials in meteorology, climatology, environmental science, or indeed any other scientific field or discipline, in the fall of 2007 Coleman described the current concern over global warming "a fictional, manufactured crisis, and a total scam." [3] His postings assessing the science behind global warming can be read at www.kusi.com. In fact, Coleman is not even a board-certified meteorologist or weather reader, the requirements for which are but several semester hours of successfully completed college coursework in meteorology or associated disciplines such as geology. In 2008 Coleman gave a speech of the same tone, before the San Diego Chamber of Commerce, blaming the "global warming scam" and environmentalist lobby, for rising gas and food prices. He also declared the scam "a threat to our economy and our civilization." [4]

Coleman has also made appearances on Fox News Channel and on the Showtime program, Penn & Teller: Bullshit!, to share his global warming views.

Coleman recently published an article entitled "The Amazing Story Behind the Global Warming Scam"[5] in which he promotes his personal view that many scientists and politicians have been embroiled in what amounts to scam based on incomplete science and a political motive for a world government. Coleman claims that the 'scam' was triggered by the claims of scientist Roger Revelle whose primary motivation was seeking increased funding for the Scripps Institute of Oceanography.

Coleman's global warming views are closely aligned with those of the International Climate Science Coalition, an organization of over 197 climate science specialists or scientists in closely related fields, who in 2008 in Manhattan N.Y., issued a declaration known as the Manhattan Declaration stating that ?Global warming? is not a global crisis [6] .

Remember folks humans are damaging the environment and are to blame for any variations in weather. Send us your tax deductible donations now to help the fight against weather patterns.

That is a good thing, but for a bunch of knee-jerk reaction because someone goes on the national circuit preaching all about something that is threatening us, but in the end is not real, well, that's an issue. I never bought in.

The Prius is still a great idea though. :)

Summary of it all:

Global warming IS real. What we don't know is how severe it will be and whether or not it is entirely our fault, if it is our fault at all. Basically those who are hyping it up to be this end of the world scenario are going too far, just like Coleman is going too far to claim it is a complete sham.

Of course in defense of those who are screaming that the sky is falling, in order to get people to do anything for the better you often have to resort to such measures.

Compared to religion, private health insurance, and conservatism, global warming isn't even in the running for "biggest scam in history".

We must choose our scams wisely and overreact to them based on how they rank then? :p

I just chose this topic for some fun since I was bored at work. I really think the author of the article is extreme, as is Gore.

If private health insurance is a scam, it's doing a hell of a job of keeping my mom alive. Under the Canadian system she'd have to wait so long she'd probably be dead by now. That's assuming there are any Carcenoid specialists in Canada in the first place.

Al Gore had to take 3 shots to pass college. Most of us don't have parents that could afford college for 4 years let a lone 12. His credentials are....growing a beard.

Man, here I was going through life believing that global warming was real, and now some crackpot has a difference of opinion that he presents as scientific fact? Damn, guess I have to change what I believe now.
