whenever I think about gore taking the credits for the evolution of the internet, it really annoys me. it's good ol' computer geeks who created the internet not some power hungry politician.

He didn't say "I created the Internet", it was something else that can be interpretted as that...

he was trying, but failed, to say that he brought the net to the politicians... which he didn't.

oh well... he's just another corrupt politician, just like Bushy.

Of course, the state of the geek looks rather grim too.

Bah.

What Gore said..

<< "During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet." >>

No he did not say.."I created the Internet."

But it isn't very different as he is taking credit for something he had as much influence in as I did!

Actually, it was the US government that created the early Internet. It was the geeks that helped to make it what it is :)

I saw him in an interview and he was directly asked if he did this and he said something along the lines of "No I didn't, and I hope I didn't give the impression that I believed I was responsible for creating it", so who knows..

Here is some commentary about this issue from..

Quote

When journalists accuse public figures of fibbing, you?d think they?d repeat what was actually said. But what Gore had said wasn?t quite good enough, so they made it a little bit better. This is what Gore said:

GORE: During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet.

And sad to say, it was pretty much true; Gore had taken the lead, within the Congress, in promoting the Net?s development. Indeed, Gore?s statement was so unremarkable that Wolf Blitzer said nothing about it at the time--didn?t ask Gore for clarification. And no journalist said a word about it in the course of the next two days.

But Dick Armey wanted to stir up a fuss, so he spun Gore?s remark just a little. According to Armey, Gore had said he ?created the Internet,? and soon mainstream journalists were typing that up, creating what they love--a scandal. Writers trained to root out spin now were eagerly passing it on.

End of quote

Dick Armey is the Republican Majority Leader of the House of Representatives. He's an affable Texan and I would bet he's amused about the legs his spin has had.

:)

Bill Gates created the Internet as well as the GUI, the mouse, the PDA and Bob.

Hey didn't the CIA creat the internet as part of some mind control experiment.

Of course if little Bushy wins the election it must be true, thats why. When Ole George was director he had this done to make his son president.

It has to be true.............I'm sure I read it somewhere.

We're all the zombies of some coked out son of a Texas oil baron.

Gore didn't create the internet? He should have said something along the lines of "I created the first packet switched network one weekend while I was bored in my summer beach house in barbados..."

Instead of that you should start an initiative to get more guys voting. A much more positive approach:).

I think it was the US government, and it was called the Arpanet (sp?).

EDIT: Back then, it was called Arpanet. :)

Al Gore is suck.

I might move to Canada or Ireland if he gets elected, provided I can get a transfer. ;)
