Wait...the story was at first that he tackled the guy...now it seems he helped carry the guy out?? Was the Larouche guy asked to leave and then escorted out by force??

Just tackling the guy would be wrong as I stated before, but I personally have had to drag larouche people out of a local city council meeting...but this was in the line of duty.

Any video of the event?

The CNN story pretty much skirted around the whole thing. We'll see how CNN's credibility holds up when we get more versions of the story.

After reading that, I can't believe how CNN sugar-coated Franken's violent attack. Can't trust the liberal media.

Besides free speech is'nt freedom from consequenses..
Yeah, but the consequences shouldn't be a physical assault.

What's worser? Activly trying to ruin someones livlyhood for what they say (dixies/palme/any employer) or a simple, quick double/single leg takedown to remind you of proper human decorum? I know which i'd prefer even all the way back to growing up I prefered a quick swat to adjust my attitude than being grounded for even an hour..(this was before playstation tough:))

Please tell me you're joking.
Are you honestly saying that assaulting someone because they are interrupting a political speaker is justified?
I know we've all got our biases, but this has got to be a joke.

You all love to quote the "going to war for peace" line, but how about "protecting free speech by attacking a guy who's speaking"

If Franken is guilty of this, he ought to be charged for it. Nobody is above the law (I'm trying hard not to mention anyone else :) ).

I still enjoy his books though. :)

No, but it doesn't change my response to Zebo's comments.
He wasn't arguing that "escorting" someone out was justified, he was arguing that a double leg takedown is justified.

Re"Free Speech": Is heckling a speaker "Free Speech"? Most people who disrupt a speech are escorted out of an event, peacefully or otherwise. The concept of "Free Speech" was conceived so that people could express Ideas, Views, Opinions, etc, but attempting to drown out a speaker is usually infringing on someone elses "Free Speech". Certainly, the protestor(s) have a right to "Free Speech" as well, but they don't necessarily have a Right to interfere in someone elses exercise of "Free Speech", especially when the event was intended to showcase someone elses speech at a Private Function.

right.

I knew so.
So, by that reasoning, the removal of the hecklers was perfectly justified. You're smarter than I'd given you credit for, Gordo.

Yes, the flag waving uber-patriots can all feel smug now that they've crushed another example of vocal dissent.

I want to know who it was?

Sounds like Gaard has a "vault" competitor.

Al Franken rousts heckler from Dean rallyA more believable account of the incident. I am guilty of not waiting for all the information to come out...lesson learned. i frequently preach that it is dangerous to come to conclusions based to incomplete information...i guess this is another example..Franken is probably safe from getting successfully sued for battery,. this doesb;t mean the dude can't sue him and cost him some money and time...that's the beauty of the tort system..you don't need a legitimate claim of injury...just a claim..any claim....even if false...and there is NO downside for the person bringing the suit..none.

but i do stand corrected.. Al Franken is not a batterer....just a A-hole

Well truth be known I was thinking he had slipped a few gears and was about to post something. The Union Leader is a good paper (I lived in NH for many years) and would believe their take over the national press in this matter.

While I initially agreed with you that Franken would be sued big time (and these jerks may yet try) I believe they may let it drop. It appears they made first physical contact, and that could land them in hot water if the PD wrote it up that way. Knowing NH officials, they may "help" these protesters make the right decision, and let it drop.

I wonder if Coulter would have approved? :p
