Just saw it on CNN... I'll find a link in a sec.

http://tpmlivewire.talkingpointsmem...ore-separating-after-40-years-of-marriage.php

We are announcing today that after a great deal of thought and discussion, we have decided to separate.
This is very much a mutual and mutually supportive decision that we have made together following a process of long and careful consideration. We ask for respect for our privacy and that of our family, and we do not intend to comment further.

Maybe she got tired of all the global warming BS? :) That being said, Al's new lover has been already identified:

Guy's a douchebag. Surprised she's lasted this long.
somehow I have it in the back of my mind that Tipper Gore was a real pain in the ass... didn't she lead some panel advocating censorship or something?

but whatever.. she's been out of the public spotlight for so long that I'd say let this remain a private family matter.

Yeah, back when rap was first starting to catch on she was one of the major voices in Washington calling for censorship of music and film to protect our sensitive young. The net result was the parent advisory sticker seen on some CDs. (Joe Lieberman was one of the big voices for censorship of video games).

Despite the hardon certain members have for Al Gore, I agree this should be considered a totally private matter. Believe it or not, not all marriages last until death.

Sad. And pointless. They have nine homes, it's not like they have to see each other if they wish otherwise.

And all progressives advocate censorship. Tipper got burned because she advocated censorship of nudity and sex rather than the accepted "conservative hate speech" wagon.

Uh, hell yes, the infamous PMRC. Liberals love to forget this pro-censorship group.

I just looked the Parents Music Resource Center (PMRC) up - there's some funny stuff in that article.

The formation of the PMRC began in 1984 after Tipper Gore, along with her daughter Karenna, heard Prince's song "Darling Nikki." This track, which appears on the soundtrack to the film Purple Rain, contains references to sex and masturbation ("I knew a girl named Nikki/I guess you could say she was a sex fiend/I met her in a hotel lobby/Masturbating with a magazine").

Gore watched other rock music videos and concluded: "The images frightened my children, they frightened me! I am frightened! Way frightened! The graphic sex and the violence were too much for us to handle." Susan Baker became alarmed when she heard her seven-year-old daughter singing along with Madonna songs that Baker considered "suggestive"[citation needed] Gore and Baker, along with Howar and Nevius, formed the PMRC in May 1985.

...

The PMRC also advocated against supposed subliminal backmasking in records,[2] and occasionally (incorrectly) accused bands including Iron Maiden, Styx, Rush, Pink Floyd, Van Halen, Kiss and Queen of backmasking to promote Satanism and/or drug use.[3]

See what happens when women get idle time on their hands? We should've kept them busy with menial work around the house. :D

Well Al Gore is in the money big time. He just bought a big mansion in california for around 8-9 Million. So now might be a good time to divorce him. I am not really for Divorce that much, but maybe he is such a bore now that she cant stand the pig.

The bolded part is utter and obvious nonsense. The PRMC was a bipartisan effort of prudes and many, many of us so-called progressives vehemently opposed it-which is why it essentially failed.

Unfortunately there are too many on the right or left (mostly right) that feel they know what is desired social behavior and are obssessed with implementing their rules into law. Witness the Bush years, GOP anti-gay marriage drives, etc. Live and let live soemtimes seems to be the exception.

Why do conservatives hate Al Gore so much?

Because he beat their boy Bush in 2000 and didn't lay down when they fixed the results in Florida and forced them to take it all the way and expose the corruption of the SCOTUS

That kiss in the OP was the worst kiss I've ever seen in my life. I think he did it for political reasons to show that he and his wife aren't the same as Bill and Hillary... but it just ended up looking like he was giving her CPR.

If you watch it again, you can see that Tipper backs off after the initial peck, but Al pulls her back in and starts sucking the air out of her like a vacuum cleaner.
