Al and Ed's Autosound - Buy one get one free.

Repost:

Would be hot but you have to have them install it which means you'll get shafted on "extra" charges they come up with.

I was going to jump on this deal until I found out they charge you $45 for basic installation, which means $90 extra on top of what your buying. Basic installation only includes the labor. Your going to need the wire harness, RCA cables, etc etc and they tack that on to your bill. Or you can just give them the $90 and install it yourself. Only a hot deal if your going to buy high-end stuff.

Al & Ed's Autosound is a car audio chain in Southern California that sells mainly consumer-grade stuff with a few lines that could be considered decent. There prices are absolutely outrageous compared to what you could get stuff for online...but they have a couple of outlet stores with some really cheap stuff on their clearance table. I personally wouldn't buy anything there that wasn't on clearance. This deal would have been hotter if they didn't gouge you on installation -- this really limits what you can buy.

yay! another coupon for next weekend. just used one yesterday and realized I didn't get enough stuff. gonna get some more next round and have everything put in all at once. the installation prices are average. same as if I go to some other place. I've installed stereo stuff myself in my car and it's not worth the time and hassle, especially since I don't have the tools, time, equipment, kits, parts, etc. I'd rather have a retail store do the job, do it well and take responsibility for it. I've blown fuses; I've had to change the locks on my car doors; and I've put head units and changers in my car. I'd rather pay someone else to do all that. besides, I don't want to end up saying "oops!" on my new $800 head unit. I don't think the warranty covers end-user installation goofs.

just logged on here and saw Al and Ed's 🙂
My grandpa used to own the company until he sold it a month ago. He's Al 🙂
Sad he had to sell it though, I always got good deals on stuff.

What if you buy a radar detector? Do you get one for free? And if so, how do they figure the installation cost (like, do they just put plug in the power cord into the cigarette lighter and charge you $45 for it)?

Hahaha.... that's hilarious. They run the cable all the way from your radar detector to your 12V cigarette adapter. That's got to be worth at "least" 2 dollars...

Sc0ut: my friend wants to get the Alpine IVA-C801. He's in San Dimas (San Gabriel Valley/Inland Empire) so anywhere around the greater Los Angeles area would work. Send me a PM if you're interested.
