Akasa Eclipse 62 update

This is an update to my original Akasa Eclipse 62 thread.

Just noticed this Eclipse-62 page at sidewinder. I don't know if they have already sold through existing stock or they are just trying to gauge public interest. There is a notify by email when in stock link.

This bad a$$ case will soon be mine.

Why not get the Global Win on which the Akasa is based fur under $100.00? Nothing the Akasa has can't be added by you for much less than an additional $50.00... Anyone heard any more on Ultra's plans for these cases?

.bh.

I agree that $159 + shipping is pricey for a case. I doubt, however, that someone would be able to get the silver Global Win version anodized black (interior and exterior) for the $60 difference. Black spray paint just isn't the same.

I have heard nothing more about Ultra's effort to bring this case to the US market.
The Ultra version is supposed to be more highly finished.
I guess they might release it after the carbon fiber case gets soft. 😉

In the EU the fan duct and extra 3.5"x 2 bay is not an option as it is offered by Sidewinder.

Not to sidetrack the thread, but I tried to get a hold of an equally desireable Akasa Mirage prior to me buying my Lian Li. The Mirage also has that black-mirrored interior aluminum finish, removeable mobo tray, etc. and looks stunning. Unfortunately, it is only sold in Europe. Was going to have a work colleague ship one from the U.K. but decided the cost (north of $175 + shipping with the $$ exchange rate & no RMA option) wasn't worth it.

Not to sidetrack the thread, but think about it...

If everyone got what they wanted, Lian Li would be out of business! 😀

The Akasa is finished in black anodized inside and out...
The funny thing is...

You can still find those Global Win cases in 'cheap white plastic'.

Everyone loved the case, but they wanted it in 'e-penis black'!

I dunno...

Ppl always want what they can't have, you know? 😛

& anodizing isn't for the do-it-yourselfer...unless they're comfortable around sulfuric acid & electricity...hehehe.

I just got an e-mail from Sidewinder Computers that they are taking preorders on the Akasa Eclipse...availability to be in late October & price is set at $159.95.
Even though i've heard horror stories about Tiger Direct, I think their version of the Eclipse is a better deal considering you're getting that "Power Bar"...that is if one is considering spending that amount of money already for a case.

Well the power bar is $40 as tiger direct version is a bit more expensive. But yea sidewinder now has the Asaka verison on order and the vendor has a good reputation.

$159 might be a bit much for a case that only has 2 fans but it is designed to come apart so that may make up for it. I dunno. I'd want to see a full review or two before saying wether I like it or not. Aesthetically it doesnt look bad IMO. If anyone sees any reviews or got personal experience with it please post them. I'd like to hear more about the case.

Thanks for the info. I had assumed that both had the same finish. Bad choice on Ultras part.
