Akai 47" HDTV for $850 +tax in costco

Just saw this TV at Costco for $950 - $100 passport savings book coupon. It was originally supposed to be 900 after the coupon but they had a sign that they dropped it $50 because the ad in the passport savings book shows it to have PIP when it really doesnt. I was there to return a TV that stopped working (a 27" that we bought 2 years ago) and saw this while I was looking at the other TVs. BTW, they took the old TV back without any trouble even though I lost the reciept and threw the box out along time ago.

Costco is great; that's why I don't mind paying a bit more for electronics there. I returned a dvd-burner after about 2 years, no questions asked. One worker told me he saw a guy return a washer after about 6 years of use.

You got to love costco for their return service. I saw a guy returning a half box of grapes ( I guess the grapes didn't taste good) and flowers that is dry up.

just out of curiosity what is costco's return policy

I've never seen anything other than a general "satisfaction guarantee" statement:

From the site "We guarantee your satisfaction on every product we sell by offering a full refund, subject to certain product specific limitations." In the stores they post a huge sign up, which I don't think is much more specific, at least in the ones I've been at.

But, I heard from someone that it's basically a life-time satisfaction guarantee, so I've asked workers at different stores. They've all confirmed it, like the guy I posted about who saw someone return something 6 years later. I believe it might vary slightly store to store, in that some will probably not accept something that looked like you dropped it. One employee told me a guy tried to return a bed that fell off his truck & got run over, but was denied. I've also been told the main exception to the rule is computer systems (not components), because too many people were buying a system & returning/upgrading 3 years later. However, YMMV, I'd ask your local Costco.

Personally, I've never had trouble returning anything for any reason even after a couple of years, but I haven't tried to abuse the return policy (too much 😀 )

I did some research and saw a while back Sam's had the Akai PT5598HDI for under $1300. This is the 2004 model, 55", with DVI. Trying to find out what the refresh is on it, but for a rebaded Sumsung that is incredible price. Going to go check Sam's and see if they still have these around same price.

costco's return policy is also great for cell phones. buy the latest and greatest and when its nothe the latest and greatest return in and get a new one and usually not have to pay a dime

I've done this about four times. Awesome waranty.

You can return everything except computers pretty much forever. The return period for computers is 6 months. This is a recent change, you used to be able to return computers anytime too.

how much credit will they give u if u lost the receipt? how will they know how much u paid for it? the last price they sold it for?
