Did you check that the HSF was properly seated every time you changed the CPU? Also, did you check that the core was not cracked, or an edge was chipped? Just ideas.

This probably wont be of any help, but i just recently bought an AK35GTR myself. I have never seen a board so flaky.

first it booted fine, then CRC errors, hard crash. then wouldnt POST. i moved stuff around and it booted.

set out to try and fix the CRC errors. eventualy moved some IDE cables and it wouldnt POST. I had enough and sent in an RMA request.

I know its a good board but from what I have read, if something is wrong with it they are realy flaky.

Im hoping they let me exhange it for an IWill XP333. I have had my fill of VIA in this lifetime.

just started putting my system together tonight:

AK35GTR
XP1800+
All in wonder 7500
Lite-on 16x DVD
Lite-on 24/10/40 CD-RW
Seagate Barracuda IV 60GB
Enermax 365P-VE (FCA)
2X256 Centon DDR 2100

Booted up, pressed delete to enter BIOS, and system went blank. By messing around with the RAM and clearing CMOS I can get it to boot once and it freezes before my drives are even detected. I've tried taking out everything and just using 1 stick of RAM and my video card, but I get no signal from the video card, and no beeps whatsoever (I get one beep when I do get a signal before it freezes.) If I somehow do get a signal and it freezes, if I restart it with out changing anything, I get nothing. I'm not sure if I'm missing something or I just got a bad board. Any help would be appreciated...thanks a lot!

Try each stick of memory, one at a time. Also, change your ddram command rate to 2T, and I bet your problems go away.

A friend of mine was pulling his hair out with an upgrade from a Pentium3 800 to an AMD 1.33. He tried every possible solution but one. His power supply couldn't support the hungry new chip. He swapped power supplies and never had a problem again... Until

He then upgraded again, and had similar problems. It turned out this time that some of the pins on the ATX motherboard connecter weren't fitting tightly enough, and there was too little contact on some of the pins. Swapped power supplies again (RMA'd bad one of course), and again no problems.

How do you change the ram command rate to 2T? If you mean in the BIOS, I don't get that far. I tried 3 different sticks of ram (1 Crucial, 2 Centon) a different processor, and a different power supply (although it was the same exact model, just a different one) So I don't think it can be the power supply unless the board needs something better than that Enermax 356P-VE (FCA). I wouldn't think so. I think I'm gonna RMA the board and see. If it happens again maybe it is the PS. Thanks for all the help!

Also, when it does work, I get a CMOS Checksum Error - Defaults Loaded...but that isn't too uncommon isn't it? I mean it's not a problem if the default values are loaded...especially if I haven't changed them...
