Yeah I'm trolling just because I think owning the most powerful assault rifle on Earth is a bit excessive for protecting yourself against "smash and grab" neighborhood burglars.
Any rifle can be an "assault rifle" douchebag.

Uh oh, my AR-15 has a bayonet lug, flash supressor (they do nothing and guns fire better without them), and an adjustable stock... it's obviously more capable of "assaulting" than one without those options

Bullsh!te. Im sorry to say that. The ar-15 (derived from the original m16) isnt as reliable as the ak-47. Its been known to jam after frequent use, it must be cleaned frequently, and it isnt as powerful as AK. The main advantage the ar-15 has is lower recoil, for long distance accuracy, but at the cost of fire power..

Although the ak was invented during the soviet era, its one of the most influential weapons ever made!!!

I'm fully aware of the advantages and disadvantages of both the AK and AR. Having said that, reliability wouldn't be an issue because I regularly clean my rifle and I don't live in friggin afghanistan. So really the advantages of the AK are price and knock down power. The price difference isn't that big of a deal to me so, for civilian use atleast, I feel the AR is the far better choice than the AK overall.

Perhaps you should try getting your facts straight before trolling. Have you done so, you'd know that AK is NOT the most powerful "assault" rifle on Earth.

Tell that to the Marines who assaulted the beaches of the Pacific in WW2. :)

So, is "assault rifle" not a real term? Wikipedia has an entry for it - "a type of automatic rifle generally defined as a selective fire rifle or carbine (depending on the particular firearm's size), using intermediate-powered ammunition."

IIRC, the term "assault rifle" as in the so-called "assault weapon ban" defined "assault rifle" as a firearm having features such as a pistol grip, detachable magazine, bayonet lug, flash hider, etc. Again IIRC, you could only have two (or perhaps three) of said features without falling under the ban. However..if you take a Ruger target rifle, put on a pistol-grip stock and a flash hider, there's your 'assault weapon'.

I actually read a newspaper article where the reporter stated that flash hiders make the shooter "invisible." <-- yes..quoted. :Q
