I just put in my new aiw 8500 last night. I had the original aiw radeon. I uninstalled the dvd, mmc and control panel applett. Then I removed the drivers then after reboot it detected my card and installed microsoft drivers by itself. So I went ahead and cleaned the registry of entries recommended at vcdhelp.org. Then I went to device manager and removed the display adapter and shut down. I installed the card windows automaticly installed drivers for the card. Then I install the drivers that I downloaded, The wdm first then driver package.

Anyhow I get to loading the mmc and it says to install windows media codec or something close to that. Well I check the link for more info about this and as I understand it xp already has this and I don't need to download it. So I tell it to install anyways then I install the dvd player. Then I go to try the tv and I do the channel scan and get the sound working. Well I have no video. In the tv app down on the control area where the channel up and down buttons are. There is a circular area that the channel buttons are part of there is also some other buttons there also if it is the same as my other card. Anyhow the graphics to the left of the channel up and down is not there and the buttons that are usually there aren't. I don't remember what functions they were. I didn't use them too much.

I haven't tried to uninstall all the apps and reinstall yet.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

It sounds like you got the uninstall right; not clear on the new install. Did you:
1. Install the drivers (Catalyst 2.3). No reboot.
2. Install the control panels. No reboot.
3. Install the WDM capture drivers. No reboot.
4. Install Hydravision. Reboot.
5. Install ATi DVD Player 7.6.
6. Install ATi MMC 7.7.

I installed wdm drivers no reboot then the didplay drivers then reboot. Then control panel and reboot. Then mmc reboot and then dvd and a reboot. I didn't install hydrovision. it sounded like it was for multiple monitors and I only have one so I didn't load it up.

I think tonite I will uninstall dvd and mmc and try to reload them along with that hydrovision and that windows media codec. Thanks
