I'm under the impression that the ATI AIW cards act somewhat like a Tivo when you want to record a tv program. What do people mean that it's like a Tivo? That you can record to a hard drive (given) or does it have a way to schedule and record several tv shows during the week? Can you record two shows that are on the same time?

I would just like to know the extent of the recording features for tv capture.

BTW.. I'm either looking a 9600 AIW or a 9800Pro AIW.

TIA,

Sal

You can schedule a recording and you can also pause live TV and the computer buffers the signal untill you resume. I dont think you can record two simultaneous show as far as I am aware.

and a true TIVO will remove commercials for you... Still, the AIW does a great job of recording as long as it doesn't crash.

For those of you with the AIW card, is the user interface pretty easy to use to tape tv shows? I want for my wife to be able to do this as well. I don't want to be the only one that can operate the software.

i have an AIW 8500DV. have you ever used GuidePlus+? with your cable box of example? its the same interface as that. it looks like this. if you look at the top of the listing, youll see the tv in the spongebob box. i set that to watch, and it turns to it automatically. youll see the tape icon on Oddparents. ive set that to record. its very simple. you just click on th box, and then you can choose to watch or record it by clicking the two button up top, above the program description.

its fairly simple. if your wife can use the cable box, she can use this.

Wow! That's very cool. Thanks for the screen shot ShimSham. I guess the only slight letdown was that I can't record two shows that are on at the same time. Oh well.. I do have VCR's in the house. ;)
