AIW Radeon -- fully directx 8 compliant?

Will the AIW Radeon, and all of the other Radeon cards for that matter, be DirectX 8 compliant meaning it will have programmable vertex shaders, programmable pixel shaders and high order surfaces? Supposedly, at least by some game magazine that I read, none of the cards on the market right now are fully directx 8 compliant -- rather they are compatible meaning they will work with it but not use the new features of directx 8.

Anyone have any more info on this?

well that the goal, all drivers in the 70xx and above should have some sort of dx8 support, however this aaahhh implementation will be in the works for a while. The only game to my knowledge that includes some dx8 features is MechWarrior 4. someone correct me if I'm wrong.

NO the radeon isn't FULLY DX8 compliant. Theres no way a card will EVER be FULLY DX8 compliant. Theres just more features in DX8 that any hardware engineer will make or for that matter, for any software maker will ever tkae use of.

To this date, there isn't a single card that is near fully DX6 OR DX7 compliant.

Well, the big thing from DirectX 8 seems to be programmable vertex shaders and programmable pixel shaders. Do the Radeons at least support these features?

Thanks.

It is not full DX8 complaint. It has some DX8 features but overall, it is not nearly DX8 complaint. I am not sure about the NV20.
