What kind of speeds would I be looking at if I used the ATI AIW 8500DV in UT2003? I'm getting a new video card and just want to make sure that I can run UT2003 at 1280x1024 (16 bit, low detail, low everything - I don't care, just want that native reso on my LCD :p). Any ideas?

What about the 128MB AIW 8500?

Thanks.

Most 8500DVs are clocked at 230/190 which wouldnt be good enough for 1280x1024 in that game. I would get the AIW 8500 thats clocked at 275/275.

Problem with the 275/275 128MB AIW 8500 is that it's more expensive and it doesn't have firewire ports (I'm getting an iPod soon). Not to mention, I don't game often.

Mind you, I don't need 100fps or anything. Would I get 40+ fps at 1280x1024 with everything turned down?

Thanks.

Yikes, just ran the benchmark for UT2k3 on my Kyro2 - got 53fps for the flyby and 19.7fps for the botmatch. This is at 800x600 High everything. :Q

YIKES that's slow!

The 8500DV was 25% slower in 3dmark2001 than my regular Radeon 8500 to give you an idea how much slower the 8500DV is. UT2k3 wont be playable on the 8500dv@1280x1024.

what about at 1024x768?
i have an LCD monitor as well and i can only go up to 1024x768 on mine.

i have a gainward geforce 4 ti4200 64mb at the moment on a shuttle ss51g, 2.0aghz P4 and 256mb crucial pc2100 drr ram

the game at the moment is pretty playable at the moment with every setting maxed out, apart from FSAA at full which i dont really mind too much, but if the full retail UT2003 has larger textures then it will cripple my system somewhat right?

i know i could do with another 256mb RAM so this would help a bit, but if i also dopwngrade my geforce 4 to an ATI Radeon 8500DV AIW 64Mb DDR AGP DVI + TV-Out OEM and if i get this card it will most likely have slower clock speeds right?

If you want firewire ports, you may want to reconsider having them via the 8500DV. If you search the Rage3d.com forums, you'll see countless numbers of people who have problems with the 8500DV when the firewire ports are enabled. In effect, the card's features only work properly for these people when the firewire ports are disabled.
