aiw 128mb- capture buttons disappeared

using winxp, some of the buttons, including capture,

disappeared off the tv control, (the remote also temporarily stopped working)

and the video capture button on the remote stopped working (I also tried setting capture via the
tv listings, but it doesn't seem to be working). I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the remote and multimedia program,

volume and channel functions returned but nothing else, the capture functions didn't return.

On Win 98 the record button wouldn't work if the video source had macrovision.....

hmmm, I think the problem is the dvd 7.6 upgrade, I believe it is responsible after multiple one step
installs/reinstalls, I will keep things running for a day or so to see (running the dvd software on the install disk
in place of the new version)
