With real guns. Death matches are so much fun.

So is CTF! Billy will never walk again, that'll teach that bastard not to steal our flag.

I used to paintball competitively and loved it, I don't know if airsoft has anything that organized but both are fun.

Airsoft has far better weapons, and therefore better tactics and play. That being said, I much prefer paintball. The marks are open for all to see so no need of honor system, and in my opinion it usually hurts less/less chance of injury.

Now, if you REALLY want fun, invest in simunitions. Pain, but it's worth it.

Screw Airsoft. They don't have the range or the power because of their light weight. Play Paintball.

Anyone who's ever shot my airsoft guns say they're more accurate than paintball - I haven't had a chance to use a paintball gun to compare, though.

Airsoft is FAR more powerful, accurate, and long range than paintball. You just need heavier 2g BBs, not the cheapo 1.5g or whatever BBs that they sell at Wal-Mart that aren't even perfectly round. Sniper BBs are even heavier at 3g and can be dead accurate at >400 FPS.

Agreed.

And to ad onto what I said before, in paintball, you go out, run bunker to bunker and shoot each other, but in airsoft, some fields will have full day wars where you take a map and compass and navigate through the woods and assault other squads or teams. The squads are usually built just like a true military squad with possibly a sniper, support gunner, etc. This just isn't possible with paintball. Airsoft simply has more potential for different scenarios.

They have war games in paintball too, but I have yet to play in those. My friend has done those a bunch of times. Are you sure about airsoft range though? Paintball stock stuff is crap. I mean my Tippmann 98 gets pretty decent range and I brought it out when some people were having a waterballoon fight last week. I shot with pinpoint accuracy at people's shoes. If I missed I think people would've killed me for injuring them, but it was a joke so I had dead on aim even at 60+ feet. Anyways, I have friends who have better equiment. They have things like the flatline barrel, and it's like throwing on +100 feet range by just switching barrels. 400 fps is pretty damn fast. Most paintball ranges make you chrono your own equipment. I had to keep my crap below 290, although it was easily shooting 380 at first. So yeah, if you want me to shoot at 400 fps I probably could, and that paintball will sting like a mofo.

The problem with airsoft is the guns aren't standardized. In paintball more or less you have equal equipment.

Really? I hate playing people with electronic triggers and cyclone feeders where I have to worry about paintballs getting chopped or not feeding.

Electronic triggers are nothing, even a kingman has those.

Just for reference. I have a G3SG1 and was one of 3 people on a college campus who had airsoft. We played against the paintball club at school in an outdoor environment like a real military operation for shits and grins. It was a great game but we won because of range and accuracy. Their tactics far outweighed ours because of experience, but alas was not enough.

All in all I give props to airsoft. Just feels more realistic. G3SG1 450fps with a 500round clip and 700rpm wtih an effective range > 80 yards is devastating. Even more so to a paintballer.

450+ fps? Were the paintball guns limited to <250fps?

I've played both. But in the end I stuck with Airsoft. there are a number of reasons why i prefer airsoft more, like cost, upkeep and style of gameplay, but thats all personal preference.

As far as range goes... we all know quality AEG's (TM, CA, G&P etc) have great working hop-up systems. paint balls have more energy, but bb's have backspin.. adjustable backspin allows the user to adjust how much backspin is put on the bb, allowing it to be pretty damn accurate and have massive range.

I have a custom m16 that shoots 400+ fps all the time (until my battery goes out.. which takes days) and I love it. The group of guys I play with are very good at calling hits, so I never worry about no one honoring hits.

my 2 cents.

I play paintball because it's viewed more as a sport and not really a military sim. I've never trusted anyone, so it's paintball for me.

Obviously, this is just a personal preference. There are arguments that go both ways, but in the end, it's really up to you on which you like more.
