Airsoft spring guns

I live in the dorms at OSU. Recently, I couple of guys got some spring airsoft guns, myself included. Well, we busted out the lab goggles, shot each pair a couple of times to make sure they wouldnt break, then went at it. Those little .12 gram BB's leave some friggen welts, even though clothes. I figured if I dressed in pants and a long sleeve shirt I'd be fine, but nooooooooooo, they still sting like hell... and if you catch one on the ear or the scalp (I keep my hair within 1/2 most of the time), then it really stings like a b*&#@. I guess it would have helped if we didnt flip a pair of couches in and hold the 10 minute firefight inside the dorm room. We were determined to have a shootout, and there isnt anywhere to go at 3:30 AM that the cops wont come if they get a report of what we are doing, which is why we had it inside the dorm room. I cant wait until we figure out a place to have a legitimate shoot out at. Then hopefully the average distance to target will be over 7 feet.

You should get real facemasks. What you were doing was really pretty stupid, you really don't want to get shot in the ear.

I've read on this board that if you got shot in the ear just right you'll die instantly :Q

Yeah, the real facemasks is something we should get... once we know if we like Airsoft. We're in college, so discretionary income is not unlimited. We all bought $20 spring pistols, so a face mask is likely a 100% increase in budget spending. Anyway, I liked it, but I want to try it outside where movement and skill are bigger factors than one side having the spring shotgun (sadly, not my side... I could definitely tell the diff between the shotgun and the pistol).

Well, I never had my ear exposed from the side... it was more of, they shot at me, and managed to hit my ear from the front. Besides, I think thats probably like the "break someones nose, and send the fragments into their brain with a punch" theory... its possible, but you have to be hitting hard and in just the right spot/way. If it is a serious risk, I can put in my foam shooting ear plugs.

IT has been considered, and is still under consideration. I may be joining the USMC PLC program next year :D

Both of those have happened, with minimal additional results compared to getting hit elsewhere. One of the guys playing caught one in the nose, it wasnt bad. What do you expect, it to go up the nostril? A few days ago, someone caught one on the lip. It didnt chip his teeth, just swelled up his lip for a few hours.

Getting hit isnt all that bad... its more of a startle reaction than a pain reaction. That said, the welts are not gone yet.

This stuff sounds like fun. There weren't any school clubs or anything at my college that had this "bb gun" fight. I think we had a paintball club and that was about it.

The only thing is I would be worried about cheaters in a large-scale event. Its always those guys that bring out the assualt rifles for paintball, etc. that ruin it for the cheap rental pistols everyone else has. And plus, if they use better guns, it might penetrate fairly deeply into the skin.

Well, one of the guys I was playing with wants to get a sniper rifle that fires the heavier pellets at 410fps. We told him he isnt allowed to use it at under 100feet, just because no one wants a pellet to actually penetrate. Lucky, his aim sucks, so as long as he stays at that 100 ft+ limit, I'm not too worried.

Yeah, the reason I'm thinking I might not like it is if people are not honest about when they got hit.

Hmm, now you just have to explain what all the tiny little holes in the walls are from to your college housing people.

<< how about getting shot with my gun >>

Il take you on with my gun!

Well, this is the one I have now. Once the new order comes in, I'll have this. Then, I'm trading with one of the people down the hall. I'm giving them my black Desert Eagle, and they are giving me this desert eagle b/c they want the black color. I want to trade because the other one weighs more ( = more realistic to feel).

Nah, the walls are cement blocks. Barring me getting my 45 out, the walls are safe.

Some day I want to see a TV program where they take the people who like to play make believe combat with non-lethal weapons, divide them up into squads, insert them in the desert/mountains where noone else will get hurt, give them real weapons and nobody wins until all of their opponents are dead. That would be the greatest and it would separate the real men from the wannabes.
